Abstract:

A three dimensional optical data storage and retrieval system that includes a three dimensional optical data storage medium and an apparatus for providing access to data stored on the medium. The data storage medium includes an optical data storage material which either a low molecular weight or polymeric glassy solid that are capable of undergoing multi-photon excitation that are energetically different in the write and read cycles. The optical data storage materials provide substantially higher storage capacities relative to conventional materials, and show high robustness in that written and stored data can undergo multiple read cycles without erasure or overwriting. An apparatus for data recording and accessing stored data on the medium includes a controllable variable energy photo-emitting excitation source and an emission photo-detector.

Abstract:

Technology for controlling non-uniformity in the Bfield includes selecting the phase, magnitude, frequency, time, or spatial relationship among various elements of a multi-channel excitation coil in order to control the radio frequency (RF) power emanating from the coil antenna elements. Non-uniformity can be used to steer a constructively interfering Bfield node to spatially correlate with an anatomic region of interest. A convex (quadratically constrained quadratic problem) formulation of the Blocalization problem can be used to select parameters for exciting the coil. Localization can be used in simulated Finite Difference Time Domain Bfield human head distributions and human head phantom measurement.

A polymeric composition in pellet form comprising a tacky hot melt composition, comprising a) from about 5% by weight to about 90% by weight of a thermoplastic polymer, b) from about 0% by weight to about 65% by weight of a tackifying resin, c) from about 0% to about 50% by weight of a plasticizer, d) up to about 2% by weight of an antioxidant, and a pelletizing aid, wherein the tacky hot melt composition has some minimum amount of tackifier or plasticizer and is a pressure sensitive adhesive having a storage modulus, G', at about 25. degree. C. , of less than about 5. times. 10. sup. 6 dynes/cm. sup. 2, and each pellet has a substantially tack-free surface. This invention further discloses a polymeric composition in pellet form suitable for molding articles. The composition comprises a tacky hot melt composition comprising at least one high molecular weight triblock copolymer of the general configuration A-B-A and a plasticizer and a pelletizing aid. The pelletizing aid substantially surrounds the tacky composition such that the molded articles are substantially free from surface tack.
