Abstract:

A guide catheter includes a hollow elongate shaft defining a channel. The hollow elongate shaft (or a segment thereof) includes an inner tube and a multilayer sheath formed around the inner tube. The multilayer sheath includes an intermediate layer derived from a melt-processible first polyether-block amide material (e. g. , PEBAX) and an outer layer derived from a different second polyether-block amide (e. g. a cross-linked polyether-block amide material). Reinforcing material (such as a braid of reinforcing filament) may be part of the multilayer sheath. The second polyether-block amide layer of the outer layer provides a shrink tube with a shrink temperature range greater than melt temperature range of the first polyether-block amide material of the intermediate layer. The hollow elongate shaft is formed by heating the intermediate and outer layers at a temperature within the shrink temperature range such that the outer shrink tube layer shrinks and the intermediate layer melts to thereby bond the multilayer sheath to the inner tube.

Abstract:

A guide catheter shaft is formed from an inner tube structure and a multilayer sheath around the inner tube structure. The multilayer sheath includes an intermediate sheath and a shrink tube layer. The intermediate sheath is disposed around the inner tube and realized from a melt-processible first polyether-block amide material. The shrink tube layer is disposed around the intermediate sheath and realized from a different second polyether-block amide (e. g. a cross-linked polyether-block amide material) having a shrink temperature range greater than a melt temperature range of the first polyether-block amide material. The resulting structure is heated at a temperature within the shrink temperature range such that the outer shrink tube layer shrinks and the intermediate layer melts to thereby bond the multilayer sheath to the inner tube.

An anti-clogging catheter includes a hollow cannula defining a first interior diameter and a distal end defining a second interior diameter smaller than the first interior diameter. A solid stylet is movable within the fluid passageway and has an outer diameter substantially equal to the second interior diameter of the cannula, the stylet and cannula together defining (1) a closed fluid pathway that prevents neurological material from passing into the distal end of the cannula when the distal end of the stylet is extended into the distal end of the cannula and (2) an open fluid pathway that allows fluid to flow in a single contiguous path around the distal end of the stylet and out of the distal end of the cannula when the distal end of the stylet is retracted away from the distal end of the cannula and remains within the body of the cannula.

Abstract:

A system for cutting medical tubing sourced from a spool of tubing uses two actuator groups that each reciprocate along a respective track, which are parallel to each other. Each actuator group has a clamp and a cutting tool which have an operative position along a common axis. The tubing is fed along the common axis to be operated on by the actuator groups. A forward actuator group clamps onto the tubing and is then moved along its track, pulling the tubing. A rearward actuator group then clamps onto the tubing and cuts the tubing. While still clamped onto the tubing, the rearward actuator group is moved forward, pulling more tubing, and the actuator group that was forward is moved to the rearward position and the process is repeated iteratively to produce tubing sections cut to the desired length. The tubing is pressurized and kept under pressure to straighten the tubing.

Systems and methods for a volumetric multi-selection interface for selecting multiple entities in three-dimensional (3D) space are provided. An example method includes generating a selection region within a three-dimensional space and receiving a selection path user input to define a selection path.
