Abstract:

A durable membrane that includes a membrane that is moisture vapor transmissive and resistant to liquid penetration, and a non-continuous application of a thermoplastic elastomer on a side of the membrane. The membrane may be an expanded polytetrafluoroethylene membrane. The thermoplastic elastomer may be polyurethane. The non-continuous application of thermoplastic elastomer on a side of the membrane may include an application of thermoplastic elastomer that covers a portion of the surface area of the membrane and leaves the remainder uncovered.

Abstract:

A venting system for a temporary shelter that includes one or more vents that are positioned in the exterior shell of the temporary shelter. Each of the one or more vents may include a membrane that is moisture vapor transmissive and resistant to liquid penetration. The membrane may have a moisture vapor transmissive rate of at least 4,000 g/m/day. The membrane may be expanded polytetrafluoroethylene. The one or more vents may have a size such that there is approximately 4 mof vent surface area in the exterior shell of the temporary shelter per 20 mof interior space within the temporary shelter.

Abstract:

A loop material for a hook and loop fastener, which has ink jet printing on a face of the loop material, wherein the loop material has a shear strength of at least 10 pounds per square inch as measured by ASTM D-5169 and a peel strength of at least 1 pound as measured by ASTM D-5170. The printing on the face of the loop material substantially reduces the sound level associated with disengagement of the loop material from a hook material. Abstract:

A wearable sensor retaining device and techniques for integrating a wearable sensor retaining device into a first responder's garment, such as a firefighter's shirt. The wearable sensor retaining device may include a strap having a rigid connector having a male portion and a female portion (e.g. a side-release buckle) for adjustably securing the strap around a wearer's torso to ensure proper location of the wearable sensor and proper fit for the wearer. The strap has a portion for coupling to a wearable sensor and having sufficient tension to retain the wearable monitor in the proper location, while maintaining wearer comfort so as not to impede the range of motion of the wearer. The strap may include a length adjustment loop that provides the wearer a customized fit and quick, consistent application.
