Its been our goal since the beginning of the season to win the national championship, said Illinois outside hitter Colleen Ward, who had 17 kills. Its obviously tough not to do that, but were proud of how far we came.

UCLA women's volleyball team faces Illinois for NCAA title
Illinois (32-4) is led by senior outside hitters Colleen Ward and Michelle Bartsch, who had 27 and 22 kills, respectively, against USC. Jennifer Beltran, a sophomore from Reseda who played at Los Angeles Marymount, is the Illini libero. She had 32 digs and five assists against USC.

Thats been our mentality for the whole year, especially during the tournament, said the Illinis Colleen Ward, a senior outside hitter. Were obviously excited that we won and that were playing for the championship, but we have been aiming for this next one.
Just as Van Orden and Love have been big keys to UCLA, a transfer player also has had a huge impact at Illinois. Senior outside hitter Colleen Ward, who is from suburban Chicago, played her first two seasons at Florida before returning to her home state and the Illini.
