Abstract:

A vehicle wheel can be protected against surface damage during a tire cleaning operation by providing a mask over the outer surface of the wheel. The mask can include a circular disk formed out of paper or cardboard. Temporary attachment of the disk to the vehicle wheel can be accomplished by permanent magnets embedded in the disk or by an annular band of pressure sensitive adhesive on one face of the disk.

Abstract:

An apparatus for delivering sound to a fetus through a pregnant woman's abdomen. In a preferred embodiment, the apparatus utilizes limited-volume, modular sound transmitters encased in housings which are affixed on their undersides with a compound that safety adheres each transmitter to any appropriate location on the outer wall of the abdomen. The transmitters and their respective housings are connected to each other electronically at one end by an audio plug, not unlike commercial headphones, where is situated an additional audio jack meant for the purpose of simultaneous listening. An external case holds the housings together when not in use thereby protecting the adhesive compound from the elements. Alternatively, the apparatus may include shells adapted to receive commercially available sound transmitters such as ear buds.

Abstract:

A toothbrush having a self-contained supply of cleaning liquid. Multiple miniature liquid flow openings are formed in the brush holder portion of the toothbrush, such that the cleaning liquid is distributed onto essentially all of the brush clusters. In one form of the invention liquid flow is restricted by porous sponge elements extending across the flow openings. In another form of the invention the multiple flow openings are of pinhole size in order to restrict the liquid flow.

Abstract:

An umbrella which has a handle (20), for gripping, attached to a staff (22) and a number of ribs (26) pivotally connected to the staff, each having a strut (28) rotatably joined therebetween. A canopy (32) having an opening (34) in the center covers the ribs, also a cover (36), larger in diameter than the opening, overlays the canopy creating a water shedding shield. A movable ring (38) attaches the cover to the staff allowing vertical movement of the cover. The cover is reinforced with straps (40) and the inside of the canopy is also reinforced with at least a pair of radial straps (46). The umbrella relieves the air inside when the pressure differential between the inside and outside is increased due to the wind billowing the cover upwardly on the ring, exposing a series of vents between the ribs at the interface of the cover to the canopy expelling the air readily thereby protecting the umbrella from turning inside out.
