John Goodman, who plays Dan Conner, offered some insight on the fate of his onscreen wife, played by Barr. In a profile published on U.K.'s Times Sunday, Goodman said his character will be "mopey and sad because his wife's dead."

Of course, letting a dead thing die is not really in the shows DNA. When it came back, it resurrected Dan Conner (John Goodman), killed off in the finale of the original run, along with undoing several other decisions of that no-longer-final season.
years had passed since viewers last visited the Conners' home, and it only made sense that the family would have spruced things up. Perhaps they got new wallpaper for the kitchen or a different sofa for the living room. Dan Conner (Goodman) is a contractor, Barr noted, so how about new windows, too?

The ideas were not entirely far-fetched. "Roseanne" has killed off cast members before -- Goodman's Dan Conner was revealed to have died in the original series finale -- so why not kill off the matriarch and keep it going?
