Abstract:
A wireless mobile device/station (MS) sends measurement reports of neighbor cells to a serving base transmitter station (BTS). The MS receives information messages transmitted by the BTS at a signaling period, while the MS is in a first cell. The MS is configured to receive a first information message and a subsequent second information message following a handoff. When both information messages are received, the MS transmits a measurement report to the base station, based on contents of the current, received information messages. Responsive to the MS failing to receive/detect the second information message, the MS transmits a measurement report to the BTS based on (a) a current/first information message(s) and (b) a previous information message of the same type as the undetected second information message. The BTS initiates another handoff based on the information in the second type of measurement report.

Abstract:
Mitigating a risk of a communication session being dropped while the communication session is in progress. Conventional measurement report (MR) messages can be generated and communicated from a mobile communication device to a communication network. Responsive to the mobile communication device detecting an out-of-sync (OOS) condition, an OOS counter can be incremented. When the OOS counter is equal to at least a threshold value, generation of conventional MR messages can cease. Further, at least one size reduced MR message can be generated. An amount of data contained in the size reduced MR message can be selectively limited to be less than an amount of data contained in the conventional MR messages. The size reduced MR message can be communicated from the mobile communication device to the communication network.

Abstract:
A method and system that mitigates data session degradation over a radio link connection with an end server by allocating resources at a wireless communication device based on real-time radio frequency (RF) channel conditions. A performance tracking and resource allocation (PTRA) logic monitors radio access bearer (RAB) configuration and radio link quality for communication links between the WCD and the end server. The PTRA logic sets a maximum transmission unit (MTU) size parameter to a pre-established size associated with the measured radio link quality. In response to detecting a change in the RAB configuration, the PTRA logic performs a real-time round trip time (RTT) measurement utilizing individual RTTs associated with packet segments transmitted at a lower protocol layer. In addition, the PTRA logic modifies at least one of a transmission control protocol (TCP) receive window (RWIN) and a TCP transmit window (TWIN) using the real-time RTT measurements and RAB configuration.
A communication device, method, and computer program product provide dynamic cell selection with transmit power cut back for local constraints. A transceiver of the communication device scans for cells within communication range of the communication device. An uplink transmit power limit associated with each one of the one or more cells is based at least in part on a maximum transmit power supported by the transceiver. A controller of the communication device determines cuts back of the uplink transmit power limit in response to determining that a local constraint is applicable to the communication device. The controller prioritizes selection of the one or more cells for connecting to the communication device based on the respective uplink transmit power limit contained in the data structure and causes the communication device to connect to the prioritized cell from among the cells.

Abstract:
A mobile communication device is provided that can perform multi-RAB communications with voice and data. The mobile communication device is adapted to predict an impending handoff event and delay the start of data connection message flow for enough time so that the handoff event can complete, abort or timeout without competing for signaling link resources, for example on a DCCH channel. After the handoff event is completed, aborted or timed out, the delayed data connect message flow is allowed to proceed.
