Abstract:

A crash helmet with adjustably tinted visor including a helmet portion dimensioned for receiving a wearer's head therein. The helmet portion has an open lower end and a closed upper end. The helmet portion has a front section, a back section, and opposed side sections. The front section has an opening therein to allow the wearer to see therethrough. A transparent front panel is hingedly coupled with the opening in the front section of the helmet portion. The front panel is fabricated of an electro-sensitive crystal material to allow the front panel to vary in shades of tints. The electro-sensitive crystal material includes a logic control circuit. A control panel is disposed within one of the side sections of the helmet portion. The control panel is in communication with the logic control circuit for adjusting the shade of tints of the transparent front panel.

A load control device is configured to generate a control signal having a desired magnitude for controlling a load regulation device adapted to control the power delivered to an electrical load. The load control device may comprise a control terminal arranged to provide the control signal to the load regulation device, a communication circuit for generating the control signal, and a control circuit configured to generate an output signal that is provided to the communication circuit. The communication circuit may be characterized by non-linear operation. The control circuit may adjust the magnitude of the output signal in response to the difference between the magnitude of the control signal and the desired magnitude to adjust the magnitude of the control signal towards the desired magnitude. The control circuit may also be configured to determine if an incompatible load regulation device is coupled to the load control device.

Abstract:

Numerous methods of exchange are facilitated in which a physical copy of a previously-manufactured work embodying intellectual property in some tangible form, such as a physical book, are replaced with an electronic or digital version of similar intellectual property work, a replacement work or a derivative work. The physical item of manufacture is thereafter removed from the marketplace, or some aspect of its perceived private property value is diminished or destroyed physically or effectively so that physical items of tangible property are replaced by electronic or digital versions. To the extent first-sale doctrine under copyright law applies to physical or electronic versions of items, first-sale private property rights may be preserved for the benefit of the private property owner, even though the replacement electronic version of the work may be licensed, not sold, to the user through a disclosed mechanism of exchange.
