Abstract:

Disclosed herein are systems and devices for performing computer-aided surgical navigation. Specifically, a system for augmented reality assisted trauma fixation, which displays various views of one or more tracked items, including a guide device, a fixation plate, a surgical tracking device, and an augmented reality display. The guide device having a tip, a handle, and a fixation guide. The fixation plate having at least one aperture designed to receive the tip of the guide. The surgical tracking device configured to track one or more trackable objects associated with the guide, fixation plate, and display, and thereby calculate a location of a fixation device, such as a screw, relative to the fixation plate.

Devices, systems, and methods for measuring a force applied to a joint during a surgical procedure are disclosed. The device includes an insertion tool, a handle, and one or more force indicators. The insertion tool includes an insertion end and a base end. The one or more force indicators may be attached to the insertion tool and the handle. The insertion end of the device may be inserted into a joint during a surgical procedure and used to apply a force to the joint and/or measure the force using the one or more force indicators when the force is applied.

Abstract:

A method of placing a ligament graft in a surgical procedure is described. A surgical system receives kinematic information related to a range of motion of a knee joint and registers one or more surfaces of a bony anatomy of the knee joint. The surgical system further generates a three-dimensional model of the knee joint. The surgical system determines a surgical plan including parameters of a graft tunnel based on the kinematic information and the three-dimensional model. A graft tunnel planning system is also described. A plurality of tracking markers are affixed to the patient's bones and a tracking unit captures their location through a range of motion of the patient's knee joint. A point probe captures the geometry of a bony surface of the patient. A computing module receives the location data and geometry data, and determines a surgical plan including parameters of a graft tunnel.

Abstract:

Methods and systems of augmenting an implant intraoperatively and preparing a cone for revision surgical procedure are disclosed. A system includes a cutting device, a tracking and navigation system and a cutting system in operable communication with the cutting device and the tracking and navigation system. The cutting device includes a communication system, a cutting element, and a plurality of optical trackers. The tracking and navigation system is configured to detect a location of optical trackers. The control system is configured to cause the tracking and navigation system to detect the location of the cutting device, determine a revised shape for an implant cavity, cause the cutting device to cut the implant cavity to the revised shape, select a shape for a cone to be placed in the revised implant cavity, and machine the cone to the selected shape.

Abstract:

A reconfigurable bone adjustment device () includes a first member () configured for attachment to a first bone fragment, a second member () configured for attachment to a second bone fragment and a reconfiguration assembly () configured to move the second member relative to the first member. The reconfiguration assembly includes a drive mechanism () and a threaded rod () operatively coupled to the drive mechanism so that rotation of the drive mechanism rotates the threaded rod. The reconfiguration assembly operates to reduces stresses, forces, bending moments and/or eccentric moments on a junction and/or by configuring the junction in a manner whereby one of more of the forces, is isolated away from the junction.
