Abstract:

System for providing information to a user via a communication network are provided. One such system incorporates an integrated appliance that includes a housing. The housing mounts a display, a telephone, a keyboard and a first passthrough communication portal. The display is operative to display information to the user. The telephone is located adjacent to the display and is operative to provide voice communication to and from the user. The keyboard is located adjacent to and in front of the display and is operative to receive inputs from the user. The first passthrough communication portal includes a first receptacle located adjacent to the display, a second receptacle and a communication link. The first receptacle is operative to receive a communication connector of a computing device. The second receptacle is operative to receive another communication connector for communicating with a communication network such that the communication link propagates information between the computing device and the communication network.

Systems for generating multiple revenue streams are provided. One such system includes an integrated appliance that incorporates a display. The integrated appliance is operative to display content to a user via the display and provide the user with passthrough communication connectivity so that the user can interconnect a computing device to the integrated appliance and be provided with at least one of passthrough telephone network access and passthrough Internet access. Abstract:

A processor is configured to perform headphone playback with a playback audio signal. The processor produces a feedback signal from an internal microphone, compresses the feedback signal according to a variable compressor setting, and determines a context of usage of the headphone, as being one of running or jogging, transportation, and critical listening. In response, the processor changes the variable compressor setting and drives the headphone speaker with the compressed feedback signal combined with the playback audio signal. Other aspects are also described and claimed.
