This specification describes technologies relating to reducing audio masking. In general, one aspect of the subject matter described in this specification can be embodied in methods that include the actions of receiving a primary audio signal and a secondary audio signal; for each audio signal, calculating an average perceived intensity over time for each of a plurality of frequency bands; comparing the average perceived intensity of the secondary audio signal with the average perceived intensity of the primary audio signal for each frequency band; and for each frequency band where the average perceived intensity of the secondary audio signal is greater than the average perceived intensity of the primary audio signal by a specified threshold amount, attenuating the secondary audio signal by a specified amount to form a modified secondary audio signal.
Systems, methods, and computer program products for displaying audio data are provided. In some implementations, a computer-implemented method is provided. The method includes receiving audio data and displaying a composite image representing the audio data. The composite image combines a first representation and a distinct second representation of the audio data. Each representation is visible in the composite image and the representations appear in the composite image as if laid one over the other.
Systems, methods, and computer program products for editing digital audio data are provided. In some implementations a method is provided. The method includes receiving digital audio data incorporated in a plurality of audio tracks and receiving a selection of one or more audio tracks of the plurality of audio tracks for editing, the selected audio tracks being fewer than all of the plurality of audio tracks. The method also includes receiving an input specifying an audio effect to apply to the selected audio tracks and applying an inverse of the audio effect to one or more non-selected audio tracks in response to the input.
Systems and methods for audio editing are provided. In one implementation, a computer-implemented method is provided. The method includes receiving digital audio data and displaying a representation of the received digital audio data as an audio waveform. The display also includes a representation of one or more controls for applying one or more effects to the digital audio data. A user input is received manipulating a first control relative to the audio waveform. The displayed representation of the audio waveform is modified according to the relative position of the first control and a corresponding effect is applied to the digital audio data. The modified digital audio data is then made available for further processing.
Selecting Features Of Displayed Audio Data Across Time
Systems, methods, and computer program products for graphically displaying audio data are provided. In some implementations, a method is provided. The method includes displaying a graphical visual representation of digital audio data, the representation displaying a feature of the audio data on a feature axis with respect to time on a time axis. The method also includes receiving an input in the graphical visual representation selecting a range with respect to the feature and automatically extending the selected range with respect to time to define a selected region of the visual representation, where the extended range with respect to time is predefined and ignoring any component of the received input with respect to time.

Abstract:
Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer program products, for entering or editing musical note data. In one aspect, a method includes receiving a user input selecting a scale; receiving a user input of notes; determining whether each note is in the scale; and for each note that is not, automatically replacing the note with a corrected note. In another aspect, a method includes displaying a segment of music; receiving user input selecting a scale, multiple notes from the displayed music, and a pitch displacement; displacing the notes; and for each displaced note that is not in the scale, automatically replacing the displaced note with a corrected note. In another aspect, a method includes receiving user inputs selecting multiple scales and a non-overlapping period of time for each scale; receiving notes, each for a particular period; and correcting the notes as necessary according to the scale for the period.
