Abstract:

This invention provides a continuous process of making continuous nanofibers of all kinds, such as SiC, BN, AlN, and C. Laser heating a vapor of feed-material made of all atomic elements needed to grow chosen nanofibers results in growth of nanofibers onto seed-nanostructures attached to a filament, which is then pulled up continuously at a rate controlled by a rate of growth of the nanofibers. More feed-material is supplied at a rate sufficient to enable the nanofibers to grow longer continuously without limit. Laser light focused into a doughnut shape provides a photon density gradient, which constrains the nanofibers to grow parallel to each other and in the form of cylinders, so that industrially useful structures like cables and cylinders can be made in one low cost operation and in large quantities.

Abstract:

The process for manufacturing fractal hollow tubes is presented. In order to break through present engineering barriers it is necessary to greatly increase the strength-to-weight ratio of the materials used in construction. The present invention accomplishes this by a process in which the mass and atomic dimentions are minimized while order is preserved in accordance to the quantum atomic compressibility law, E=3 h. sup. 2 /8 ml. sup. 2. Hollow fibers are formed into tubes which are formed into hollow cylinders which form the walls of hollow columns, etc. In this way the energy available for material strength is realized so that support structures that are stronger than 10. sup. 9 Pascals and less dense than 1/2 g/cc are built. This process of fractal microengineering will allow the construction of aircraft, and structures having performance capabilities that were not possible before.

Abstract:

Fractal hollow tube reinforced structural members are presented having a maximum strength-to-weight ratio and a wall density less than 1/2 that of water, which are versatile, practical and economical for use in any kind of construction. The strength is maximized by introducing a high degree of order down to the atomic scale to the walls of the hollow structures, while the mass and thickness of these walls is minimized. The wall density is further reduced by including microspheres in the walls, mesh spaces and bonding substances which minimizes the total mass of bonding agent that uselessly occupies the dead spaces of the meshes and coils of the fibers and tubes. Strength and thermal tolerance are further enhanced by building the tube walls out of hollow carbon or titanium fibers and buckyball microspheres. These fractal structural members will greatly improve the fuel efficiency of any craft supported by them and will make possible crafts and structures never possible before.

Abstract:

This tunnel-hull uses non-linear flow means to maximize tunnel lift efficiency, fuel economy, and directional stability. The lower lateral hull planing surfaces have sharp, wedge-shaped step discontinuities defining multiple flat, smooth, planing surface sections having zero dead-rise angle. The steps decrease wetted surface area and increase hydrodynamic traction without adding draft. Downwardly extending curved lateral hull portions define a tunnel between their parallel inner edges. Random impressions in the undersurface of the tunnel relieve vacuum suction and create non-linear air flow for greater lift. Downwardly bent front edges of the tunnel and rear delta wing swim platforms are control surfaces that serve as safety brakes and prevent flipping. Tunnel air pressure increases in a gradient from bow to stern placing the center of lift aft of the center of mass, which provides safety from undue inclination and extra shock absorption. The planing surfaces are, alternatively in the form of endless rolling belts, which allow beaching and amphibious operation with high efficiency and without damage to the hull.
