Abstract:

A removable insole for insertion into footwear, includes a forefoot portion extending at least to metatarsals of a foot, the forefoot portion including a combination layer formed from a bottom layer of a resilient foam material which provides a shock absorption cushioning function, and a top layer of a slow recovery material which absorbs shear forces applied to the second layer at pressure points and spreads out the shear forces along the forefoot portion, the top layer being of substantially the same dimensions as the bottom layer and superposed therewith, the bottom and top layers having the same thickness and outer dimensions; a cupped heel portion formed by a relatively flat central portion and a sloped side wall; a mid-foot portion connecting together the forefoot portion and the heel portion, the mid-foot portion including a medial arch portion and being connected to the forefoot portion at the medial arch portion, the heel portion and mid-foot portion together being formed by a unitary layer of resilient material, and the sloped side wall extending around a periphery of the heel portion and forwardly to at least the mid-foot portion of the insole; and a top cover secured to upper surfaces of the forefoot portion, mid-foot portion and heel portion.

Abstract:

An insole is described having a deep heel cup, and high medial and lateral flanges extending from said heel cup, wherein said heel cup cups the calcaneous of a foot in approximately a neutral degree of varus so that the insole does not induce locking of the midtarsal joint, and said high medial and lateral flanges extend continuously high along the medial and lateral sides of the insole substantially to the first and fifth metatarsal necks of the foot. The insole is useful for individuals with a high arch or supinated foot type.

Abstract:

An assembly of a breakaway needle and catheter is provided for injection by the user, using only one hand. The needle and catheter are inserted by the user, and the needle is then retracted from the puncture site leaving the catheter in place. As the needle is retracted, it breaks apart and separates from the catheter. The assembly includes adhesive coated taping wings to which the catheter is attached. Hence, when the taping wings are attached to the user's body following splitting of the needle, the catheter will be secured in place for long term use.

Abstract:

An improved refrigerated beverage carrier is provided to fit into a bicycle water bottle cage. The beverage carrier is comprised of a hollow, low density plastic flask having a mouth for dispensation of a beverage at one end and a central axial opening at the opposite end. A sealed, hollow, low density plastic core is inserted into the central axial opening of the flask. The core has a blind end located within the flask and an access end adapted to receive refrigerant at the central axial opening. The core is filled with a refrigerant, such as a mixture of propylene glycol and water, and is sealed to the flask by ultrasonic welding. Ultrasound is applied to an end plate having a pair of concentric annular sealing rings. The innermost annular sealing ring, when welded, forms a fluid tight seal with the core, while the outermost sealing ring, when welded, forms a fluid tight seal with the flask.
