Abstract:

A pair of sensors ( A and B) are mounted at the entrance to a germ sensitive area. When a person enters the area the sensors are activated in sequence, indicating the direction of movement of the person. An indicator, such as a light or sound alarm is mounted upon an antiseptic dispenser, located within the area. The alarm is actuated by the movement and is de-activated once antiseptic is dispensed from the unit. Likewise when the person moves out of the germ sensitive area, the alarm on a dispenser unit located outside the area is energized and is de-activated upon dispensing of antiseptic.

Abstract:

A method and an associated system and computer program product for determining sequences suitable for testing an electronic system that is comprised of a set of nets. Each net of the system provides an interconnect between a set of nodes. The method includes a step in which nodes that are enabled by a common enable latch within the system are identified. Each commonly enabled node is associated with a node group. Each node group includes the set of nodes that share a common enable latch. Contending node group pairs within the system are then identified. A contending node group pair is any pair of node groups in which at least one commonly enabled node of the first node group and at least one node of the second node group reside on a common net. Sequence numbers, preferably for use in defining a boundary scan test sequence, are then assigned to each commonly enabled node in the system. The assignment of the sequence numbers is performed such that sequence numbers for each node within a node group are the same, while sequence numbers associated with pairs of contending node groups differ.

Abstract:

Described is a method for isolating faults to a correct field replaceable unit (FRU) of a data processing system. When a processor timeout occurs, a fault isolation logic is triggered and checks the boot record to determine if the timeout occurred because of an FRU fault before or after the service processor completed its system initialization. When the timeout occurred because of fault that occurred while the service processor was loading operating system (OS) (e. g. , AIX) instructions from the boot device in the input/output (I/O) subsystem, then the FRU callout indicates a boot fault associated with the I/O planar and the CPU (processor) card. When the FRU fault occurred prior to fetching the OS instructions from the boot device or after the service processor completed its system initialization procedures, then the FRU callout is attributed to the processor card and backplane. Attributing boot error faults to incorrect FRUs is therefore substantially eliminated.

Abstract:

A hemorrhoidal ligator and anoscope system used to facilitate ligation of internal hemorrhoids. The ligating device consists of head, shaft and firing handle assemblies and is capable of storing and releasing multiple rubber bands singularly. The ligating device comprises an inner cylinder that is removable for disposal or reloading for reuse. The inner cylinder may also be configured with a disposable sleeve, the sleeve being disposable or capable of reloading. A modified loading cone is provided for facilitating loading of the rubber bands onto the inner cylinder or the inner cylinder sleeve. The anoscope is configured with three lateral apertures that coincide with the anatomic locations of the internal hemorrhoids in man and thus, simultaneously expose all three hemorrhoids for ligation and grading.

Abstract:

Jewelry can include a stone and a setting. The setting can include rings, wherein at least one of the rings contacts the stone. The rings may be in the form of chains, netting, or both. The rings can be attached to the stone using anchor(s), so that the setting cannot be removed from stone unless the stone, a ring, an anchor or combination thereof is broken or, in the case of hooks, removed only with great difficulty or irreversibly damaging the hooks (e.g., when separating ring and hook combinations). The configurations for the settings and stones and methods described herein can substantially increase the options for designing jewelry, and particularly the use and arrangement of stones in jewelry.
