Abstract:A system for performing an invasive diagnostic or therapeutic medical procedure includes a first probe having a distal portion carrying a plurality of functional elements and a second probe having a distal portion carrying a functional element and a location sensor. The system includes a proximity processing subsystem in communication with the functional elements carried by each of the first and second probes and configured to determine a proximity of the functional element carried by the second probe relative to a first functional element carried by the first probe. The systems further includes a location processing subsystem configured to determine an absolute position and orientation of the location sensor carried by the second probe with respect to a three-dimensional reference coordinate system that can be internal or external to the three-dimensional space in which the first and second probes are positioned.

Abstract:A plasma cleaning method for removing residues previously formed in a plasma treatment chamber by dry etching layers such as photoresist, barriers, etc. , on a wafer. The method includes introducing a cleaning gas mixture of an oxidizing gas and a chlorine containing gas into the chamber followed by performing a plasma cleaning step. The plasma cleaning step is performed by activating the cleaning gas mixture and forming a plasma cleaning gas, contacting interior surfaces of the chamber with the plasma cleaning gas and removing residues on the interior surfaces. The cleaning gas mixture can also include a fluorine-based gas. For instance, the cleaning gas can include Cl. sub. 2 and O. sub. 2 and optionally CF. sub. 4. An advantage of the cleaning method is that it is not necessary to open the plasma treatment chamber.

Abstract:A method in a substrate processing chamber for forming a conductive feature by etching through a conductive layer disposed above a semiconductor substrate. The method includes etching at least partially through the conductive layer using a first etch recipe to form a top portion of the conductive feature. The method further includes thereafter etching at least partially through a remaining thickness of the conductive layer using a second etch recipe different from the first etch recipe to form a bottom portion of the conductive feature. The bottom portion is disposed below the top portion. The second etch recipe is configured to yield a sloped etch foot in the bottom portion of the conductive feature.

Abstract:A method and means is disclosed for carrying out the calibration of a gas monitor. The calibration is effected by providing a calibration gas containing a precise amount of the constituent that is measured by the gas monitor. That calibration gas is introduced into the gas monitor and passes therethrough in a closed system such that leakage of calibration gas to the surrounding environment at the inlet to the gas monitor and from the outlet of the monitor is prevented. The calibration gas is further stalled in the gas sensor chamber of the gas monitor for the operator to make necessary adjustments to the gas monitor at no flow conditions of the calibration gas.

Abstract:A system is used in association with a structure which, in use, is deployed in an interior body region. The structure includes an operative element. A switch matrix is coupled to the operative element. The switch matrix includes a plurality of inputs and a plurality of outputs. A controller is coupled to the switch matrix to control the switch matrix to couple the operative element to selected ones of the inputs and selected ones of the outputs in accordance with applied commands. An interface is coupled to the controller. The interface includes an input element to receive operator input and a processor to generate applied commands to the controller in response to operator input. The interface also includes an image controller to generate an image of the structure while coupled to the switch matrix. The image controller generates markers on the image in response to signals transmitted from the operative element through the switch matrix.
