Abstract:

Embodiments of the present invention enable processing of tasks within a service-oriented architecture (SOA). In embodiments, an echo mediator is a mediator SOA component that acts as a service provider by processing a service request associated with a service requester and returning the result to the service requester. In embodiments, an echo mediator handles a received sequential service request by synchronously processing it. In embodiments, an echo mediator handles a received parallel service request by storing it in a persistent store, and an echo mediator with processing capacity retrieves the stored parallel service request and asynchronously processes it. In embodiments, a group of echo mediators may be distributed among the nodes of a grid, forming an echo mediator grid in which each of the echo mediators interfaces with a common data store deployed within the grid. In embodiments, the grid of echo mediators balances the processing of stored service requests.

A system and method for energy efficient Ethernet (EEE) enhanced information technology power management tools. EEE-based computing center resources are designed to monitor energy savings events hardware components (e. g. , physical layer device) included within the computing center resource. Energy saving statistics based on such monitoring can be provided to a power management tool. This monitoring information enables the power management tool to make broad service-level energy savings decisions on actual network activity. In addition, feedback based on the broad service-level energy savings decisions can be provided to the EEE-based computing center resources for consideration by their individual EEE control policies.

A communication device may utilize a serial interface to communicate with a peer device via a serial interface link utilizing a serial interface protocol. The communication device may be operable to generate a first serial signal from a first plurality of signals associated with one or more interface protocols. The generated first serial signal may be communicated to the peer device via the serial interface link. The peer device may then regenerate the first plurality of signals from the communicated first serial signal. The communication device may be operable to receive a second serial signal from the peer device via the serial interface link. The second serial signal was generated by the peer device from a second plurality of signals associated with the one or more interface protocols. The communication device may then regenerate the second plurality of signals from the received second serial signal.

Abstract:

A network video server apparatus and method for transferring video image data across a computer network serving multiple clients. The network server apparatus comprises two parts, a server and a client. The server is run on a computer system containing a video digitizer hardware. Running the server on this computer system makes it possible to distribute video images across an existing network linking several client computer systems. The client provides the user with a means of viewing the images generated by the server through the network, controlling the size and type of image to be sent by the server, controlling the underlying video digitizer hardware, and collecting statistics about the server/client performance. The client software is designed to appear to the users as if they were operating the client software locally. The server and client communicate with each other over two channels: one for control information and another for video data.
