Abstract:

A computer-implemented method for improving temporal processing of a first type of information in human is disclosed. The first type of information pertains to one of touch, auditory, and visual. The computer-implemented method includes providing a computer, and providing a stimuli generator coupled to the computer. The stimuli generator providing, responsive to control signals from the computer, first stimuli, the first stimuli being a different one of the touch, auditory, and visual. The computer-implemented method further includes applying the first stimuli from the stimuli generator to the human. The first stimuli are produced around a plurality of time scales to facilitate improvement in the temporal processing of the first type of information around the plurality of time scales.

Abstract:

A dynamic fin system (DFS) achieves fin rotation passively via water flow so that no direct active control of fin rotation is required by the watercraft operator. The DFS, using a combination of fin rotation via at least one axle and resistive forces applied to a fin mounting tab, provides an assembly in which a fin can pivot from side to side in a reliable, effective and simple way. The DFS provides ease in turning and stability at a neutral position while minimizing the amount of flow resistance. The DFS provides a strong fin mounting, and uses a combination of an axle for rotational control, a resistive centering force, and a force preload for stabilizing the fin in the neutral position. The DFS provides a mount for a rotating fin in a watercraft hull that supports repositioning of the rotating fin axis both forward and rearward in the hull.

An x-ray diffraction apparatus for use in analyzing the x-ray diffraction pattern of a sample. The apparatus includes a beam source for generating a collimated x-ray beam having one or more discrete x-ray energies, a holder for holding the sample to be analyzed in the path of the beam, and a charge-coupled device having an array of pixels for detecting, in one or more selected photon energy ranges, x-ray diffraction photons produced by irradiating such a sample with said beam. Abstract:

A computer-implemented technique for remediating depression in a person which includes assessing, using a computer-implemented interactive behavioral assessment regime, a depression index for the person. If the depression index is above a predefined benchmark, the computer-implemented technique includes periodically reassessing the depression index by waiting for at least a predefined period of time, and performing the above assessing step after the predefined period of time expires. If the depression index is below the predefined benchmark, treating the person by administering computer-implemented interactive behavioral training to the person. The computer-implemented interactive behavioral training is sufficiently intensive during each training day to create a permanent change in modulatory functions of neurotransmitters of one of norepinephrine and serotonin in the person.
