Abstract:

Information about a product advertised on a web page is presented separately, but concurrently, with the content of the web page, to avoid having to navigate away from the web page. The information may be automatically presented in a banner that is displayed adjacent the content of the web page. Controls on the banner initiate the display of further information, and/or enable purchase of the product, while maintaining the web page content in view on the browser. Alternatively, the display of the product information may be triggered by user selection of a link associated with that product. The information about the product may appear in an overlay sheet displayed in front of the original web page. The user can interact with controls on the sheet to initiate purchase or download of the product, or can dismiss the overlay sheet to continue viewing the content of the web page.

Abstract:

A System including device access, network access system management, and related method for providing users who have require aperiodic high bandwidth data transmission requirements between remote sites access over a public switched digital network of a conventional type is disclosed. The invention uses a scheme of inverse multiplexing by which it first logically splits a high bandwidth information stream into multiple narrow band signals for transmission through public switched digital network over a plurality of narrow band channels to be received at the remote location by another Switched Network Access System then recombined to form the original high bandwidth information stream causing the multiple narrow band channels to appear as a single high bandwidth channel to remote high bandwidth end users. The Switched Network Access System provides automatic bandwidth allocation and agility which optimizes throughput and reduces data communications costs by adding or dropping narrow band channels "as needed" based on user bandwidth utilization.

Abstract:

The present invention describes a device and system for simulating normal and disease state cardiovascular functioning, including an anatomically accurate left cardiac simulator for training and medical device testing. The system and device uses pneumatically pressurized chambers to generate ventricle and atrium contractions. In conjunction with the interaction of synthetic valves, which simulate mitral and aortic valves, the system is designed to generate pumping action that produces accurate volume fractions and pressure gradients of pulsatile flow, duplicating that of a human heart. Through the use of a control unit and sensors, one or more parameters, such as flow rates, fluidic pressure, and heart rate, may be automatically controlled, using feedback loop mechanisms to adjust parameters of the hydraulic system to simulate a wide variety of cardiovascular conditions including normal heart function, severely diseased or injured heart conditions, and compressed vasculature, such as hardening of the arteries.
