Abstract:

In general, in one aspect, the invention relates to a method for integrating dimensional analysis in a program comprising defining a specific dimension class within the program, wherein the specific dimension class is an instance of the dimension meta-class, defining an instantiation of a unit class within the program, wherein the instantiation of the unit class comprises the specific dimension class as a type parameter associated with the instantiation of the unit class, defining a method within the program using the instantiation of the unit class and the specific dimension class, and compiling the program to generate an executable code corresponding to the program, wherein the program is written in an object-oriented language.

Abstract:

A license management system which includes a license management facility that determines whether usage of a licensed program is within the scope of the license. The license management system maintains a license unit value for each licensed program and a pointer to a table identifying an allocation unit value associated with each use of the licensed program. In response to a request to use a licensed program, the license management system respond with an indication as to whether the license unit value exceeds the allocation unit value associated with the use. Upon receiving the response, the operation of the licensed program depends upon policies established by the licensor.

Abstract:

The disclosed embodiments provide a system that facilitates the development and execution of a software program. During runtime of the software program, the system delays type inference on a generic type parameter of an implementation of an overloaded function, wherein the generic type parameter is associated with a type interval containing an unbounded lower limit and one or more self-typed constraints. Upon detecting a type query for a dynamic type of the generic type parameter, the system compares a queried type from the type query with a set of inference choices for the generic type parameter. If the queried type matches an inference choice from the set of inference choices, the system uses the inference choice to perform type inference on the generic type parameter.
