Abstract:

A system and method are disclosed for providing an extensible email having rich, interactive browser capabilities. The system includes a service provider for receiving extensible emails from a third party platform and presenting the emails to a user's computing device. The extensible email includes URL metadata which allows a mail user agent to fetch and run code from a third party server in order to generate the extensible email. A secure sandbox ensures that the third party code does no damage to the service provider system or the user's computing system.

Abstract:

An optical data recording system in which during recording the writing beam is made to move at the same velocity as the recording medium whereby motion blur is minimized or reduced. Movement of the writing beam at the same velocity as the recording medium is achieved by supplying a constantly varying frequency RF signal to an acousto-optic device which deflects (diffracts) the writing beam in accordance with the instantaneous frequency of the RF signal. The acousto-optic device can also be utilized to amplitude modulate the writing beam.

Abstract:

The present invention provides a method and apparatus for producing a pressurized high purity liquid carbon dioxide stream in which a feed stream composed of carbon dioxide vapor is purified within a purifying filter and then condensed within a condenser. The result liquid is then alternately introduced and dispensed from two first and second pressure accumulation chambers. The first and second pressure accumulation chambers are heated by electrical heaters to pressurize the liquid to the required or desired delivery pressure of the pressurized liquid carbon dioxide stream. Such stream is alternately extracted from the first and second pressure accumulation chambers on a continuous basis in which one of the first and second pressure accumulation chambers acts in a dispensing role while the other is being filled. The pressurized liquid carbon dioxide stream can be further filtered within a particulate filter.

Abstract:

A centrifuge rotor overspeed protection system which can operate with rotors of at least two speed ranges. A set of coding elements are provided on the rotors coded to represent the actual maximum safe speed rating of the rotor. An additional set of coding elements coded to correspond to the maximum speed in the lower speed range are also provided such that the rotor can be operated at the maximum speed possible in a prior art centrifuge designed for operation in the lower speed range. The detection circuit for the coding elements automatically adjusts the detection threshold depending on the average values of the sensor output peaks corresponding to the codes.

Abstract:

In a centrifuge rotor with defined and discrete sample receiving cells, an improvement to the fastening of a lid on top of the rotor by a bolt for preserving gas pressure on sample is provided. The rotor is of the type having a rotor body and rotor adaptor for attachment to a drive hub. Typically, a male control surface on the drive hub mates with a corresponding female mating surface on the rotor adaptor. The mating surfaces include paired opposed pins on the rotor adaptor received in grooves on the drive hub. A central aperture along the spin axis of the rotor is provided through the rotor body. This aperture is provided for viewing the rotor coupling at the pins to the grooves in the drive hub as well as providing a path through which a bolt can attach a lid on the top of the rotor to the drive hub with the rotor compressed therebetween the lid and drive hub, a sample preserving atmosphere may be maintained in the rotor during centrifugation. The invention comprises cantilevering a bushing from the lid down to the vicinity of the drive hub within the central aperture of the rotor body.

Abstract:

A centrifuge rotor locking apparatus includes a C-shaped annular member for a snap-fit engagement about a drive hub. The member comprises first and second contacting segments and a third non-contacting segment. Centrifugation causes the contacting segments to flex outwardly and come into contact with the interior wall of the drive hole of a mounted rotor. The unbalanced mass distribution of the annular member causes the member to tend to slide off the drive hub. This further separates the contacting segments, thus increasing the locking effect of the annular member/drive hub assembly to the rotor as the member is wedged in place between rotor and drive hub.

Abstract:

A system is disclosed for canceling cross-talk in a data read signal from an optical data storage medium. The system includes three AD converters for receiving read signals from three read sensors, and the read signals respectively represent data from a center data track and its two adjacent side data tracks on an optical data storage disk. The digitized signals are sent to a skew compensator to remove time skew between the signals. Then, the amplitudes represented by the side track signals are adjusted, and the adjusted side track signals are subtracted from the center track signal to cancel cross-talk in the center track signal which is attributable to data contained in the side data tracks. The center track signal is then equalized to account for the frequency response of the center track read sensor.
