Abstract:
A portable air compressor assembly includes a tubular frame having side sections and an assembly longitudinal axis. A support plate between the side sections supports a power unit having a longitudinal axis arranged perpendicular to the assembly longitudinal axis. A compressor having a compressor head and longitudinal axis is mounted to the support plate with the compressor longitudinal axis parallel to the power unit longitudinal axis and perpendicular to the assembly longitudinal axis. A fan connected to the power unit generates an air flow. A ducted cover enclosing the fan includes an air passage directing the air flow from the fan to the compressor head. The ducted cover includes inner and outer covers each including a portion of the air passage. An air scoop extends into the outer cover portion of the air passage to redirect the air flow.

Abstract:
A reciprocating saw includes a locking mechanism for a shoe of the reciprocating saw. The mechanism includes a lever mounted on the saw body movable to a first position where the saw blade is clamped in place. It also includes a lock pin with a body, a reduced circumference section, and a pin shoulder adjacent the reduced circumference section. The pin has a locked position where the pin shoulder abuts the shoe shoulder whereby the pin locks the shoe in place and an unlocked position where the shoe shoulder may translate through the clearance defined by the reduced circumference section. The lever urges the pin toward the locked position when the lever is in the first position.

Systems for reducing a fracture in a bone, comprising a bone plate and a polyaxial fastener. In some examples the head of the polyaxial fastener has a deformable portion. As a fastener is inserted into an opening of a bone plate, threads located within the opening deform the deformable portion to secure the fastener in place at a desired angle within the opening. The head of the fastener also includes a bottom portion that bears against a portion of the opening to move the bone plate relative to the underlying tissue. A securing member or other structure may be included at the interface of the head and the deformable portion to secure the deformable portion to the head. At least one flute may be included on the deformable portion that provides a lead-in for the threads within the opening to cut into the deformable portion.

Abstract:
An external fixation component includes a capture member defining opposing grooves on opposite lateral sides of the capture member for capture of an element of an orthopedic fixation system. The capture member includes a base and a head coupled to the base to define a component axis that extends through the base and through the head. The base and the head are coupled for relative lateral translation in opposing directions such that the element can be captured by the capture member in either of the opposing grooves.

Abstract:
A method of aligning implant components includes placing a first implant component in bone, followed by: coupling a first intermediate member to the first implant component; coupling a first alignment member to the first intermediate member; rotating the members as a unit to place the first intermediate member in an alignment position; removing the first alignment member from the first intermediate member; coupling a second alignment member to a second intermediate member; coupling the second intermediate member to the first intermediate member and rotating the second alignment member and the second intermediate member as a unit relative to the first intermediate member to provide a desired orientation of the second intermediate member. An alignment system for aligning first and second members includes a first alignment member having an offset channel dimensioned to receive the first member, and a second alignment member having a channel dimensioned to receive the second member.
