Abstract:

A module for a frame for a motor vehicle with a pair of laterally spaced, longitudinally extending central side rail structures. The module including a pair of tubular hydroformed side rail members and a laterally extending connecting structure connected between the pair of side rail members to secure the pair of side rail members in laterally spaced, fixed relation to one another. Each first portion of the pair of side rail members extending longitudinally and each second portion of the pair of side rail members extending laterally relative to the respective first portion and each second portion having an end being constructed and arranged to form a joint with a portion of a respective central side rail structure such that the end of each of the pair of side rail members extends generally laterally through a side of the respective central side rail structure.

Abstract:

A re-configurable cargo cover for a bed of a vehicle includes a door adapted to be disposed in a door opening of a vehicle body. The re-configurable cargo cover includes a plurality of individual panels operatively cooperating with each other and a bed of a vehicle. The re-configurable cargo cover includes a pair of interior sides operatively connected to sides of the bed of the vehicle. The re-configurable cargo cover further includes the panels and the sides having features cooperating with each other to re-configure the panels into a plurality of different configurations for a cargo area of the bed of the vehicle.

Abstract:

A system for opening and closing a sliding vehicle door includes a vehicle door that engages with the body in the closed position. A longitudinal track is fixedly mounted to an interior of the vehicle door. A hinged bracket is fixedly mounted to the vehicle body adjacent an opening defined by the vehicle body. The hinged bracket has a laterally compressed shape when the door is closed, and expands laterally outward when the door is opened. The door and the track fixed thereto slide longitudinally along the opened hinged bracket when the door is opened. The interface between the hinged bracket and the track remains at the same generally location relative to the vehicle body, and shifts relative to the vehicle door when the door is opened.

A number of variations may include a ferritic nitrocarburized part comprising steel, wherein the ferritic nitrocarburized steel has a tensile strength exceeding the parent steel material and sufficient ductility, bendability, and flangeability to support subsequent flanging and press-fitting of bushings. A mounting structure for a solar panel assembly, having a plurality of solar panels, includes a plurality of vertical support legs and a grid assembly. The grid assembly includes a plurality of north-south members and the east-west members. The plurality of north-south members include a plurality of elongated slots to allow attachment to the vertical support legs despite any manufacturing tolerances that may exist in the components. The plurality of east-west members include a plurality of elongated slots to allow attachment to the north-south members despite any manufacturing tolerances that may exist in the components.
