Abstract:
An ultrasound system, comprising: a plurality of interchangeable transducer connector modules (TCMs), wherein each TCM includes an ultrasound connector, a switching circuit, and a pluggable interface; and an ultrasound control unit, wherein the ultrasound control unit includes: a plurality of bays, each for receiving and pluggably coupling one of the TCMs into a distribution bus of the ultrasound control unit, and a system controller for selecting one of the plurality of TCMs and for activating the switching circuit of the selected TCM.
A business form that may be easily and inexpensively produced provides a security feature while allowing ready printing of variable information on carbonless sheets, and ready utilization of variable security information. Top and bottom sheets of base paper have their bottom and top surfaces, respectively, in engagement with each other. A label is applied to the top surface of the bottom sheet, underlying a blockout printing strip on the top surface of the top sheet. Carbonless imaging means, such as a self-imaging coating on the label and top surface of the bottom sheet (or a CB coating on the bottom surface of the top sheet and a CF coating on the top surface of the bottom sheet, at least at the label), transfer variable data printed on the blockout printing to the label, and preferably to part of the bottom sheet adjacent the label. An adhesive strip, with release tape over it, may be provided on the bottom surface of the bottom sheet. The top and bottom sheets may be connected together by spot pasting along the top and bottom edges, and solid pasting in removable marginal portions at the side edges.

Abstract:
An ultrasonic probe including a sensor head having an array of ultrasonic transducer elements is disclosed. The sensor head is located at the tip of a flexible shaft. The flexible shaft houses a flex circuit which is electrically connected directly to the transducer elements. The flex circuit transmits electrical signals from the transducer elements to the handle of the probe. The flexible shaft is bendable in all directions and can bend in a sharp radius in the region near the tip of the flexible shaft.
The control panel and display of a cart-borne ultrasound system are support by a lift which can be controlled to allow the control panel and display to be raised, lowered, and rotated. The lift has a first pivot elbow mounted to the ultrasound system cart and a second pivot elbow on which the control panel and display are mounted. A four-bar linkage is coupled between the pivot elbows which enables to control panel and display to be raised and lowered while maintaining the inclination of the control panel. The pivot elbows allow the control panel and display to be turned and rotated. A pair of hydraulic struts are mounted to the four-bar linkage to support the weight of the control panel and display. When a control button on the handle of the control panel is depressed the control panel and display can be freely raised, lowered and rotated. When the control button is released the pivot elbows and four-bar linkages are locked in their current positions.

Abstract:
A device according to one exemplary embodiment is a compact, light-weight handheld device that includes a needle and suture assembly, a mechanism for gripping and releasing the needle and suture assembly (a “needle transfer mechanism” or “needle shuttle mechanism”), safely capturing the needle assembly upon exit from the patient's tissue, and returning the needle to position such that the process of delivering additional sutures to the patient can be repeated. The device of the present invention accommodates the right or left-handed user, rests comfortably in the user's hand, allows sufficient visualization of the procedure site, and permits the user to either control penetration depth of the needle or default to a device-determined depth. The present device permits the user to utilize a wrist-rotation (pivoting) suture delivery technique that is familiar to a user based on experience with other surgical techniques.
