Abstract:

A folder superstructure is provided including a lead roll, a nip roll biasing the lead roll, and a frame supporting the lead roll and the nip roll. The frame is selectively movable between a first position where the lead roll and the nip roll act on a first web ribbon and a second position where the lead roll and the nip roll act on a second web ribbon. A method for folding printed webs is also provided.

Abstract:

An air delivery apparatus for providing air to guide a web in a printing press that includes a source of compressed air and a web guiding device coupled to the source of compressed air is provided. The web guiding device includes a body and a guide. The body defines an internal cavity and has an axis, an inner surface, an outer surface, holes extending from the inner surface to the outer surface and an axial end having an opening coupling the internal cavity to ambient air. The guide couples the source of compressed air to the internal cavity and directs the compressed air in an axial direction away from the axial end toward the internal cavity so that the ambient air is forced into the internal cavity. A method of delivering air to guide a substrate is also provided.

Abstract:

The present invention is related to a printing unit including a frame (2) and an upper plate cylinder (12) mounted in the frame (2). An upper blanket cylinder (16) is in selective contact with the upper plate cylinder (12), and a lower blanket cylinder (18) forms a nip with the upper blanket cylinder (16). A web (8) passes through the nip. A lower plate cylinder (14) contacts the lower blanket cylinder (18). Impression setting means (60, 62, 82) are assigned to movable housings (40, 44) of the movable cylinders (12, 14, 16). The impression setting means (60, 62, 82) are provided to adjust forces exerted on bearers (20) of the printing unit cylinders (12, 14, 16).
