David Hanna has been a licensed real estate broker in Illinois since 1998. He received his Salesperson License in 1994. He has been a top producing agent, office manager, Designated Realtor and CEO of the 4th largest residential real estate brokerage in Chicago (Prudential Preferred Properties) from 2004-2007. David received a BA degree in American Literature with a Minor in Economics from Michigan State University in 1978. In 1987 he moved to Chicago where he spent a decade in various partnerships which bought, renovated and sold residential buildings in the city. In 1999 he began a sales career with Prudential Preferred Properties (now Prudential Rubloff). In 2002 he opened an office in the Lakeview neighborhood in a joint venture with the firm, and in 2004 was appointed the managing partner and CEO of the company. During his time at Prudential, he grew the firm from 260 to 400 agents, added (3) offices and oversaw the company’s transition to profitability, with over 3000 annual transactions and $1.1 billion in sales in 2005. He and his partner sold their interest in 2007, and David is currently a Realty Executives franchisee with (2) offices and 30 executives selling real estate in Chicago and its suburbs. David has been active as a board member of the Chicago Association of Realtors (CAR) since 2004. He was elected the Association’s 125th President for 2008-2009, and was the Association’s Realtor of the Year in 2009, one of only two presidents to receive this award in the same year as their presidential service. A primary duty of the Association Board of Directors is to review and ratify the decisions of the Professional Standards Committee, or send them back for further review by the peer group. From 2006-2010, David was an instructor and trainer for Quality Service Certification (QSC), a consumer survey based rating system for Realtors designed to provide public access to independent reviews of Realtor performance by their clients. David played a key role in resolving the dissolution of the region’s Multiple listing Service’s ownership structure and re-creation as a broker owned entity in 2008 (Midwest Real Estate Data Services), for which he received a special Presidential Award from both CAR and the Illinois Association of Realtors. In 2010, David began work as the Facilitator of a broad merger discussion between the four largest Realtor Associations in Illinois and ended his involvement with the announced merger of two of those groups earlier this year. David serves on the Illinois Association of Realtors (IAR) Board of Directors and Executive Committee (2008-2010), as well as the License Law and Business Issues Committee, Public Policy and Governmental Affairs Committee, Audit Committee and 2010 Chair of the Big Broker Council. He received an IAR Outstanding Service Award in 2009 for his work on Association issues and local lending initiatives. He is a member of the IAR GSE reform Task force and Strategic Planning Committee in 2011. David has been a National Association of Realtors (NAR) Board Director since 2007, and serves on the NAR Conventional Lending and Public Policy Committees. He is NAR’s Federal Political Coordinator for the 5th Illinois Congressional District and Representative Mike Quigley, providing guidance and position suggestions to the Congressman and staff based on his knowledge of the Chicago real estate market. David lives and works in the Chicago market place his firm serves. He is a regular spokesperson for the Chicago Association of Realtors on Newsradio 780 WBBM, and is sought out for expert comment by the media on real estate issues.
