Abstract:

The present invention relates to a web trading system and method for performing financial transactions securely over a public data network, such as the Internet, using a web browser as the user interface. The financial transactions are offered, for example, by a financial institution to its customers at the institution's web site. They include transactions such as foreign currency exchange, currency and money market trades, and warrant trades. The web trading system and method provide secure communication protocol between the Internet user interface and a virtual private network (VPN) of a financial institution to enable implementation of trading applications by the financial institution's application servers across the VPN. Security for the financial transactions is provided by the web trading systems and software downloaded to the customer's personal computer (PC) and includes encryption, authentication, authorization, message and transaction integrity capabilities, registration authority, handshake protocol, and firewalls.

Abstract:

A method is provided for localizing parts of an object in an image by training local detectors using labeled image exemplars with fiducial points corresponding to parts within the image. Each local detector generates a detector score corresponding to the likelihood that a desired part is located at a given location within the image exemplar. A non-parametric global model of the locations of the fiducial points is generated for each of at least a portion of the image exemplars. An input image is analyzed using the trained local detectors, and a Bayesian objective function is derived for the input image from the non-parametric model and detector scores. The Bayesian objective function is optimized using a consensus of global models, and an output is generated with locations of the fiducial points labeled within the object in the image.

Abstract:

An identifying shield for an electronic instrument housing is formed of elastically stretchable and deformable material. The shield elastically surrounds the periphery of the instrument housing adjacent to its front panel surface, and defines a central opening that exposes the front panel for viewing by an operator. A first portion of the shield defines the central opening overlying the front panel of the instrument housing, and a second portion extends rearwardly from the first portion defining a peripheral band that engages the periphery of the case along its sidewalls adjacent to the front panel. An inwardly extending flange projects from the rearward edges of the peripheral band to enhance frictional engagement with the underlying sidewall surfaces of the instrument housing. The inwardly extending flange may also serve to retain the shield on the housing and to provide sealing between the front panel and the housing by being clamped between the front panel and the forward edges of the sidewalls of the housing. The shield material is resilient and elastically stretchable, so that it can be stretch-fitted over a housing in elastically gripping relationship; the thickness of the shield is selected so that unintended impacts with the outer surface of the shield will be absorbed in part in the shield and will be transmitted in part to the abutting surface of a support panel in which the housing is mounted.

Abstract:

A method and system for performing financial transaction involving foreign currencies deals in virtually all trading currencies, automatically incorporates the current market process and operates in a secure environment. Customers can access the system on-line and in real time through various terminals such as, for example, a personal computer (PC). By inputting information in response to prompts on the screen, the system quickly identifies the nature of the transaction the customer desires and the customer inputs the characteristics of the transaction the user desires. The system then automatically generates an offer in response to the customer's request based upon a number of parameters including the market price, the size and nature of the transaction and the size and nature of the client. The system then promptly displays the bank's offer to the customer in a clear and concise manner. The customer is then given an opportunity to accept the offer, ask that the offer be updated or reject the offer.

Abstract:

A creel for yarn bobbins or the like, comprising a plurality of yarn bobbin support members disposed in at least two adjacent rows, means for mounting at least two yarn bobbins on either side of each of the supports, and means on each of the yarn bobbin supports for receiving and guiding yarn from the bobbins mounted on supports in the adjacent row. The yarn bobbin mounting means includes swingably mounted spindles permitting each to be disposed in an operative or a loading position. Each of the yarn bobbins is axially directed to one of the yarn receiving and guiding means in the adjacent row in the operative position.
