Motor Vehicle Electrical System With Multiple Generators
Thomas Edward Brefeld - Dearborn MI Eric Steven Schaeffer - Farmington Hills MI David Paul Kaminski - Warren MI
Assignee:
Ford Global Tech., Inc. - Dearborn MI
International Classification:
H02P 300
US Classification:
322 11
Abstract:
A motor vehicle charging system comprises a first alternator including a first power output and a discrete alternator enabling input, a second alternator including a second power output and an electronic controller having a switchable output. The switchable output is coupled to the alternator enabling input. A method for controlling a motor vehicle charging system having a first alternator, a second alternator and a source of switched system voltage having an ON state and an OFF state comprises providing continual enabling power to the first alternator whenever the source of system voltage is in the ON state. The method also includes providing switchable enabling power to the second alternator whenever the source of system voltage is in the ON state. Alternatively, the method for controlling a motor vehicle charging system comprises providing continual enabling power to the first alternator whenever the vehicles engine is running and providing switchable enabling power to the second alternator, also whenever the vehicles engine is running.
Tire Pressure Monitoring System With A Signal Initiator
David Paul Kaminski - Warren MI Ranjan Kumar Ahluwalia - Novi MI Thomas Michael McQuade - Ann Arbor MI
Assignee:
Ford Global Technologies, LLC - Dearborn MI
International Classification:
B60C 2300
US Classification:
340442, 340 1033, 34087007, 34087039, 73146
Abstract:
A tire pressure monitoring system ( ) for a vehicle ( ) has a plurality of tires ( ) in respective rolling locations having a respective plurality of tire transmitters ( ) that generate a respective plurality of transmitter identification signals. A respective plurality of initiators ( ) are fixedly attached to the vehicle at a respective plurality of locations. A controller ( ) activates the plurality of initiators ( ) by generating a respective plurality of initiator signals from the plurality of initiators. The plurality of initiator signals has a first power level. The controller ( ) increases the first power level incrementally to a final power level until the controller receives a sensor signal from each of the plurality of tire transmitters.
Vibration Isolation Support System For Vehicle Engine And Transmission
David Kaminski - Lake Orion MI, US Philip Zane - Macomb MI, US
International Classification:
F16M005/00 B60K001/00
US Classification:
248638000, 180291000
Abstract:
A vibration isolation support for mounting an engine in a vehicle frame, the engine having a theoretical roll axis, the vibration isolation support including an engine bracket fixed to the engine; a frame bracket fixed to the vehicle frame; and an isolator connected between the engine bracket and the frame bracket, where the isolator is radially symmetrical about a longitudinal axis, and the engine bracket is fixed to the engine and the frame bracket is fixed to the frame such that a vertical plane drawn through the isolator's longitudinal axis is perpendicular to a horizontal plane drawn through the theoretical roll axis, and the isolator's longitudinal axis intersects the horizontal plane through the theoretical roll axis at an acute angle that is less than or equal to 45.
Method And System For Limiting Generator Field Voltage In The Event Of Regulator Failure In An Automotive Vehicle
Kathleen M. Hammer - West Bloomfield MI David P. Kaminski - Warren MI
Assignee:
Ford Motor Company - Dearborn MI
International Classification:
H02J 714
US Classification:
322 28
Abstract:
A method and system are disclosed for limiting the voltage provided by a generator in the event of a regulator or field coil short circuit failure in an automotive vehicle. The voltage provided by the generator is sensed and a corresponding voltage level is generated. The voltage level is then compared to a predetermined voltage threshold. If the voltage level exceeds the predetermined voltage threshold, the high-side field coil switch is cycled by the controller so as to control the voltage provided by the generator. The electronic components of the vehicle are protected from over-voltage damage, and the battery is prohibited from overcharging.
A display for holding a golf ball for viewing includes a pair of body members, including a front body member having an opening for viewing a portion of the golf ball surface, and an internal opening behind the viewing opening for accommodating the ball such that it is trapped between the two body members.

International Classification:
F16K 2128
US Classification:
137574
Abstract:
A reservoir for power steering fluid includes an upright housing that forms an upper interior space for storage of a reserve fluid supply, and a lower interior space containing a fluid filter. Fluid connectors are provided for causing fluid to flow in a circumferential swirling pattern as it moves through the filter, such that the flowing fluid has a relatively long residence time in the lower portion of the reservoir for achievement of an effective cooling action. The fluid filter is connected in a return line form the power steering unit to the associated pump, so that the filter exerts a back pressure on fluid flowing from the power steering unit to the filter.

Ford Motor Company - Dearborn MI
International Classification:
B60R 1604
US Classification:
180 685
Abstract:
An arrangement for heating and cooling a vehicle battery includes a thermal chamber shaped to hold the vehicle battery. The thermal chamber includes a floor and three walls and is positioned against a fender of the vehicle so that the fender forms a fourth wall of the chamber. The thermal chamber includes an inlet opening for receiving air and an outlet opening for expelling air. The inlet opening receives air from a first inlet duct which transports ambient air from outside of the engine compartment, and from a second inlet duct which transports air from an exhaust manifold of the engine. A temperature controlled damper directs air from either the first inlet duct or the second inlet duct into the inlet opening. An outlet duct transports air expelled through the outlet opening into the engine intake manifold. A filter positioned in the thermal chamber filters the air expelled through the outlet duct.

Abstract:
A vehicle may include a passive entry system having a controller and at least one antenna within the vehicle. The controller is operably arranged with the at least one antenna, and configured to cause, in response to a trigger event, the at least one antenna to transmit at least one challenge, receive a response to the challenge indicative of a tag in a vicinity of the vehicle, and identify an item based on the tag.
