The present invention provides a flexible pyrolyzed carbon fiber matrix, suitable for use as a fuel cell electrode substrate. The product is characterized by controlled microporosity and is at least partially hydrophobic. The product is made by a continuous, high speed, high volume manufacturing process, which permits wide variability in such parameters as basis weight (50-150 gm/m), caliper (140-400 mat 5 Kpa), density (0.300-0.480 gm/cm), and resistivity (200-1000 mOhm-cm through plane and 15-65 mOhm-cm in plane). This matrix, unlike current electrode substrates, is flexible and can be made as roll goods. Comparative testing in fuel cell applications has demonstrated that this electrode substrate performs comparably to currently available electrode substrates. A fuel cell equipped with the present electrode substrate will produce a polarization curve which is virtually the same as that produced by a fuel cell equipped with a conventional electrode substrate.

Abstract:
A method and apparatus are described for automatically generating the frame that is used in a bit-interleaved time division multiplexer (TDM). The apparatus comprises a microprocessor, two random access memories in which are stored the channel select signals, device for determining the transmission frequencies of each channel and a computer program which is stored in the memory of the computer for calculating the distribution of the channel select signals in the frame. With such a system, the frame can be reconfigured in about thirty seconds. Two random access memories are preferably used for the storage of the channel select signals. While the signals stored in one memory are being used to generate the actual frame, a new set of channel select signals can be stored in the other memory. After such an updated frame is written in the second memory, the task of generating the channel select signals can be switched from the first memory to the second memory without loss of any data from any of the data channels.

Abstract:
A method and apparatus are described for ensuring that control signals from every data channel are transmitted periodically regardless of any change in these control signals. The apparatus comprises a counter for counting the number of control signals transmitted, decision logic for determining when it is time to transmit a set of control signals regardless of any change in these signals and circuitry for selecting the channel whose signals are to be transmitted. The apparatus provides additional equipment for determining when the control signals for a particular channel have changed and for transmitting such signals with suitable error checking. The apparatus also provides equipment for interleaving the two flows of control signals without loss of the control signals which are changed.

Abstract:
The disclosed technology relates generally to methods and systems for sharing vehicles between fleets. Vehicle sharing services typically experience the most use during the weekend. Thus, many vehicles used by vehicle sharing services sit idle during the week. Meanwhile, vehicle rental companies experience the most demand during the week and their vehicles are underutilized during the week. The disclosed technology, in certain embodiments, provides systems and methods for sharing vehicles between a vehicle sharing entity and a vehicle renting entity. This allows the entities to lower fleet costs and obtain better fleet utilization by moving vehicles between fleets when one entity anticipates a spike in demand. For example, the ability for the vehicle sharing service to utilize a rental vehicle agency's excess weekend inventory will allow them to meet its strong weekend demand without the need for purchasing and maintaining additional vehicles.
