Abstract:

A silver halide imaging element is disclosed that is capable of providing a sharp image with silver halide grains still present following imagewise exposure and development. This is achieved by choosing a dispersing medium for the silver halide grains comprised of an organic vehicle and, dispersed therein, titanium dioxide particles having an average size of less than 0. 1 micrometer accounting for at least 10 percent by weight of the dispersing medium. The elements are useful for optical printing or scan image retrieval without fixing. The elements can be used for providing black-and-white photographic images, radiographic images or dye images.

Abstract:

A thermal film structure includes at least first and second imaging layers which have different processing characteristics. That is, the first imaging layer is processable at a first temperature while the second imaging layer is processable at a second temperature which is higher than the first temperature. The first and second imaging layers can be coated on or integrated into the film structure. This permits the addition of metadata on the low temperature layer which can be obtained without effecting the development of images on the high temperature layer. Also disclosed is a method for processing the thermal film.

Abstract:

A thermal processing kiosk for processing thermal film provides multiple processing options for a user. The kiosk includes a user control in the form of a touchscreen to permit the user to enter processing instructions and/or information. The thermal kiosk is adapted to accept exposed film for processing and printing in accordance with the processing instructions. In one feature of the invention, a user can prepay for processing of the film at the time of purchase of the film. The pre-paid status can be provided on the film by a marker or identifier on the cassette or the film. This helps to simplify the user interaction at the kiosk when the user submits the exposed film to the kiosk for processing. In further features of the invention, the processing flow in the thermal kiosk can be adapted to provide for rapid processing and the kiosk can include a display to permit a user to preview images prior to printing.

Abstract:

The present invention is directed to the use of a mixture of non-light sensitive organic silver salts in a color photothermographic system comprising a blocked developing agent for color imaging. At least one of the organic silver salts is the sole or primary silver donor during thermal development and at least one other organic silver salt, present at levels in the range of 30,000 to 60,000 mg/mol of silver halide, effectively inhibits fog during thermal development of the photothermographic element.
