Abstract:

A patient state is detected with at least one classification boundary generated by a supervised machine learning technique, such as a support vector machine. In some examples, the patient state detection is used to at least one of control the delivery of therapy to a patient, to generate a patient notification, to initiate data recording, or to evaluate a patient condition. In addition, an evaluation metric can be determined based on a feature vector, which is determined based on characteristics of a patient parameter signal, and the classification boundary. Example evaluation metrics can be based on a distance between at least one feature vector and the classification boundary and/or a trajectory of a plurality of feature vectors relative to the classification boundary over time.

Various embodiments concern identifying a biomarker in the presence of electrical stimulation. Various embodiments concern delivering electrical stimulation to a patient and sensing one or more signals while the electrical stimulation is being delivered, the one or more signals including data indicative of physiological activity. Various embodiments further include determining an intensity of the electrical stimulation and determining whether the data indicates the presence of a biomarker based on a variable threshold, the variable threshold being variable based on the intensity of the electrical stimulation. Various embodiments concern determining a relationship between stimulation intensity and a biomarker parameter to determine the variability of the variable threshold.

Hand-held shirt-pocket portable medical diagnostic system for checking measurement of blood glucose, urea nitrogen, hemoglobin, blood components or other body qualities. The system includes the engagement of a disposable needle or lance probe package which carries a chemical reagent strip such as blood reacting chemistry. The system includes a pen structure having a visual readout, a microcomputer, and photosensing circuitry which measures the change of color of the blood reacting chemistry of the disposable probe package. The pen also includes a spring arrangement for actuating a needle or lance into the skin for transferring blood from a finger or other area to the chemical reagent strip. A disposable probe structure package includes configurations for transferring of the blood to the reagent strip of the reagent strip to the blood. The pen can also create a vacuum about a time period that the needle is penetrating the skin.

The system accepts a disposable diagnostic reagent test device which has a reagent carrier and mode of identifying to the instrument the reagent lot characteristics. Abstract:

An example system includes stimulation generation circuitry configured to deliver electrical stimulation to a patient; sensing circuitry configured to sense one or more biomarker signals; and processing circuitry configured to: cause delivery of electrical stimulation with the patient in a first patient state; receive a first instance of a biomarker signal in presence of the electrical stimulation with the patient in the first patient state; cause delivery of electrical stimulation with the patient in a second patient state; receive a second instance of the biomarker signal in presence of the electrical stimulation with the patient in the second patient state; determine whether a difference between the first instance of the biomarker signal and the second instance of the biomarker signal satisfies a threshold; select a therapy mode based on whether the difference satisfies the threshold; and cause delivery of electrical stimulation in accordance with the selected therapy mode.
