The whole attitude of treat your neighbor as yourself was far more than a Sunday School lesson for David. Growing up in construction, David was always handy with a hammer. It was not long before his experience in the field with his father paid off. At a very young age, David started designing, project after project, always learning, eagerly adapting to new trends. He had a fun and savvy way of overcoming obstacles, transitioning spaces, implementing a variety of textures, colors and materials, and stretching limits. David does not know what it means to be “inside the box”. His creativity, from an early age, stems also from his musical gifts, with over 25 years on the violin and the piano. David has worked all over the world. He is now the CEO of Design For Change LLC as well as the Big D Empire Group. David is also a kitchen designer for Thurston Inc. Classical Music has always been a passion of his. He has played the violin and the piano for 26 years. David studied music in school, and has been fortunate enough to continue with his passion his entire life. After being an All-State Violinist throughout High School Competitions, David was awarded a full paid scholarship to both the University of Arkansas, and the University of Northern Colorado for Music Education, Violin. It was there that David started to expand into other scenes. David has always tried to be very well rounded with music, trying to expose himself to as many different cultures, styles, and genres as possible. On the classical side, he has performed the violin with the Front Range Youth Symphony, Colorado Youth Symphony, University of Northern Colorado Symphony, Metro State Symphony, University of Southern California Symphony, various small group performances, quartets, weddings and events, and the Denver Philharmonic Orchestra. David was honored to be the principle violinist for both the University of Southern California Symphony and the Denver Philharmonic for two seasons. On the worship and gospel side, David was the Youth Music Minister for North Metro Baptist Church, a vocalist for Witness, a Christian singing group that toured throughout California, cut an album, and toured throughout Ukraine and Russia performing in the ministry, and he is currently composing and producing worship, Christian Pop, and Gospel tracks, as well as producing Dance Tracks. On the rock side, David played the Electric Violin, Keyboards, and Vocals for Talib Rox, the only Rock Band to be played on the Hip Hop radio stations at the time. The band toured throughout California, cut an album, shot a music video, and the video/single “Go Johnny” was an instant hit worldwide. On the Hip Hop, Pop, and Top 40 side, David performed with DJ Rex Buchanan weekly in Denver, where he played the electric violin with the DJ spinning tracks. During this time, David was exposed to many producers, promoters, music critics, and was featured on MTV, performing “The Devil Went Down To Georgia” at a club during one of their television shows. His passion, however, for performing, is in House and Dance music. David loves to improv, loves the beats, and it is the music that he is most passionate about, and it is the music that he is currently playing and performing. In January of 2009, David performed with the Denver Philharmonic Orchestra as a soloist on the Electric Violin. David performed several pieces with a new style of music. This was not only a first for him, but also a first for the Denver Philharmonic. He played live with DJ Elitt, a widely known International House DJ, and James Daly, a very talented Electric Guitar player. It was not only loud, but it was also very different than anyone in that venue had ever heard before. Especially since most of the regular symphony goers are senior citizens. That performance is what made up his mind that he not only wanted to devote himself to House Music, but also to DJ Rex Buchanan. Rex Buchanan is a DJ and dance music producer based in Denver. His mixing style and production work range from big room electro to late night dubstep, always maintaining female friendly dance floor vibes. In the past he has performed at some amazing events and venues including Burning Man Festival (Nevada), Pool Party @ Coachella (California), The Foundry (Boulder), Nomad Lounge (Omaha), Fly Lounge (Aspen), Cirque (Snowmass), Lipgloss, The Church, Vinyl, Suite 200, & DJ Mag’s # 1 nightclub in the US for 2008, Beta. During his career Rex has opened for or spun alongside headliner acts such as Pretty Lights, Will.I.Am, Ludacris, LMFAO, Benny Benassi, Bad Boy Bill, DJ Icey, Donald Glaude, Josh Gabriel, Matt Darey, Vajra, LAZRtag, The Faint, Lee Burridge, Jen Lasher, Dances With White Girls, Wyatt Earp, Brian Howe and Manufactured Superstars.
