Abstract:

A system and method are provided for interconnecting computer peripherals with portable and desktop computers and other digital devices. More specifically, the present invention includes a system and method for simultaneously connecting multiple portable computer peripherals to a single portable computer interface slot, for connecting portable computer peripherals to a desktop computer, and for connecting a portable ZIPâ drive to a portable computer. Abstract:

Methods and compositions for controlling ocular hypertension associated with (i) primary open angle glaucoma (POAG), (ii) other forms of glaucoma, or (iii) glucocorticoid therapy are disclosed. The methods involve administration of angiostatic agents and other IOP-lowering agents via local injections in the anterior segment of the eye. The most preferred IOP-lowering agents are angiostatic steroids, particularly anecortave acetate, and the most preferred route of administration is an anterior juxtascleral injection or implant. The invention is based in part on the discovery that anterior juxtascleral injections of anecortave acetate are capable of controlling intraocular pressure for sustained periods of from one to several months or more. This result is believed to be attributable to facilitation of access of the anecortave acetate to the trabecular meshwork via the anterior juxtascleral route of administration. This route of administration is also believed to be advantageous for other types of IOP-lowering agents, particularly molecules that cannot readily penetrate the cornea due to size or other physical properties.

Abstract:

An exhaust housing having an eductor is provided. The eductor includes an outer annular casing circumscribing an inner annular casing to define a flow path therebetween for receiving the exhaust gas from the turbine section of an engine. A plurality of struts are integral with both casings. The struts have passages that extend from the exterior of the outer casing to the interior of the inner casing. A non-oil lubricated bearing is mounted within the interior of the inner casing for journaling a rotating shaft. During operation, the kinetic energy of the high velocity exhaust gas flowing between the casings and into a tailpipe induces cooling airflow from the exterior of the exhaust section, through the passages, across the bearing, and then out to the tailpipe.

Abstract:

A reverse flow annular combustor is provided having downstream wall comprised of a shroud covering the outer surface of the outer transition liner. The shroud abuts the transition liner at a plurality of points to define a plurality of passages between the shroud and the liner. The passages receiving cooling through the shroud at its radial inner end and expel the cooling air through the liner at its outer radial portion and into the hot gas in the combustor. Thus, the air used to cool the liner is also used for dilution mixing with the combustion gas.
