Abstract:

A mechanism for permitting selective adjustment of the angular position of a head-mounted night vision device is provided. The mechanism comprises a housing positioned adjacent the night vision device. A shaft defining a longitudinal axis is at least partially positioned within or adjacent the housing. The shaft is rotatively coupled to the night vision device, wherein rotation of the shaft induces rotation of the night vision device. A moveable lever is coupled to the shaft for rotating the shaft. Means for selectively limiting rotation of the shaft are provided, wherein the means are moveable between a first position and a second position. In the first position the means permit rotation of the shaft and the optical device, and in the second position the means limit rotation of the shaft and the optical device.

Abstract:

A system, method and apparatus that provides buying information and recommendations to help consumers purchase products from retail merchants when prices are at their lowest relative point rather than when the consumer runs out and needs to purchase at a higher price. The system provides electronic access to a plurality of product information from a plurality of retail merchants in a plurality of markets. For each regularly purchased product the system displays the lowest price available from a plurality of retail merchants. It also displays a price index that indicates how the current lowest price compares with the high and low price recorded for the product over a defined period of time, a re-order index that forecasts when the consumer is expected to run out of the product and a unit price index that indicates how the current unit price compares with the unit prices of a group of similar products. Using the price, re-order and unit price index information the system recommends products that the consumer should consider purchasing. For products purchased from retail merchants with physical stores the system will create a shopping list for each store listing the products in order of location in the physical store for quick purchase. Finally, the system provides a cooperative price check and update function where some consumers, who are also members, check and update prices and store location information on a defined number of products during their regular shopping trip and share this information with the larger consumer population.

Abstract:

A colored loop material suitable for use with a hook-and-loop fastening system, wherein the loop material includes a first fibrous nonwoven web having a first surface and a second surface and includes side by side bicomponent spunbond fibers in which the fibers have a melting point differential of at least about 15 C. and in which said bicomponent spunbond fibers are comprised of a polypropylene component including at between about 2% to 4% by weight of a coloring formulation, and a copolymer component. The first fibrous nonwoven web has a thickness of at least about 0.15 mm and a basis weight of at least about 20 grams per square meter; a pattern on the first surface thereof of continuous bonded areas defining a plurality of discrete unbonded areas formed by the application of heat and pressure, wherein individual fibers within the discrete unbonded areas have at least a portion thereof extending into and bonded within the continuous bonded areas; and a percent bonded area of from about 20 to about 50 percent. If desired, a film layer may be bonded to the second surface of the first fibrous nonwoven web. Alternatively, a second fibrous nonwoven web may be bonded or laminated to the second surface of the first fibrous nonwoven web. The loop material is particularly suitable for the preparation of a releasably attachable abrasive sheet material.

Abstract:

A robust, compact, lightweight, low energy, low cost, and low noise mechanical mechanism suitable for military and other demanding applications includes a Geneva drive that transitions a camera shutter or other element between two positions and locks the shutter or other element in place between transitions, thereby isolating the remainder of the mechanism from shutter vibrations and torques. Accordingly, the mechanism controlling the Geneva drive need not be especially robust even for military applications, and can be similar in size, weight, energy consumption, and noise to a conventional shutter mechanism. The driving mechanism can include a rotary actuator or a linear actuator with a rack gear. In various embodiments the driving mechanism includes a piezomotor. In certain embodiments, the starting and ending positions of the mechanism are determined by sensors, and in some embodiments the starting and ending positions are adjustable.

Abstract:

Multiple leg rope assemblies formed from a single rope. In one embodiment, the single rope is doubled into equal length legs lashed side-by-side forming a looped eye at one end of the assembly, the ends of the rope at the other end of the assembly being formed into a pair of adjacent eyes which together create a clevis for connecting the rope assembly to other rope assemblies or fixtures. In another embodiment, a single rope, the ends of which are spliced together end-for-end to form a continuous loop, is doubled into four equal length legs lashed side-by-side to provide, at each end of the assembly, a pair of adjacent looped eyes which together create a clevis for connecting the rope assembly to other rope assemblies or fixtures. Several rope fittings or fixtures for use with the rope assemblies are disclosed.
