Abstract:

The systems and methods described herein include a platform that employs a client/server architecture to provide an extensible set of real time and messaging communication services to a plurality of users. The platform allows the clients to configure and activate the services as each user wishes, thereby providing individual control over the communication services a user receives. The platform includes a server that allows a user to select how the user will participate in a communications event. This can include control over the end points and media over which the communications event occurs. The systems described herein additionally provide a framework for developing integrated voice and data services that can be deployed on the platform for extending the services available to the plurality of clients.

A personal messaging agent () performs enhanced messaging services. The personal messaging agent () includes a user profile (), a message filter (), and at least one external helper (). The user profile () stores user preferences for processing messages. The message filter () receives messages, performs in-band processing on the messages based on the user preferences, and generates at least one event for triggering out-of-band processing of the messages. A device is provided including a processor and a display configured to list more than one presence enabled contact. A user agent is configured to indicate an availability status of the device to a presence server. The user agent is at least partially executed by the processor. Abstract:

A method and system of an embodiment of the present invention may involve receiving an invite message at a network port of a device to initiate a communication session with the device; identifying an address associated with the invite message; when the address corresponds to a first address, performing a first session initiation process to establish first communications via an audio port of the device; and when the address corresponds to a second address, performing a second session initiation process to establish second communications via the audio port of the device; wherein the second session initiation process differs from the first session initiation process. In addition, access to the audio port may involve determining a priority of the invite message; rejecting the invite message when the priority of the invite message is inferior relative to a priority of a current dialog; and accepting the invite message when the priority of the invite request is superior to the priority of the current dialog.
