A data communications network, for which presence information is maintained for wireless data communication devices forming nodes of the network, includes: a presence server; and a plurality of nodes formed by the wireless data communication devices, each of the devices configured to send periodic check-in messages to the presence server. The presence server is configured to send an acknowledgment in response to a check-in message. Each of the wireless data communication devices is configured to reset a timer associated with the sending of the check-in messages by it upon (i) communicating, as an intermediate node, a check-in message originating at another node, and (ii) communicating, as an intermediate node, a corresponding acknowledgment originating at the presence server. The presence server is configured to update presence information of wireless data communication device from which a check-in message originates and each intermediate node.

Abstract:
An intersystem communication path (20, 67) can be established on an as needed basis. Already established paths are fully utilized before new paths are established. Already established paths can be automatically disconnected when no longer needed, or when existing calls can be merged on to fewer lines. Dial up lines can be mixed with dedicated lines. If desired, excess capacity can be guaranteed to accommodate high traffic conditions and/or other conditions that precipitate a likely need for communication services between systems.

Abstract:
An apparatus and method for determining the period and frequency of a signal intefering with a desired Loran C signal are provided. A sample of the interfering signal is generated at a time corresponding to the peak of the autocorrelation function of the interfering signal with respect to the predetermined pulse tracking reference point of the Loran C signal. Indicia of the period and frequency of the interferer is obtained from the timing of the sample generated at the autocorrelation function peak.

Abstract:
Loran C signal processing apparatus is provided which employs a single signal channel or path to process and sample Loran C RF signals and envelope derived Loran C RF signals which in conventional approaches are processed and sampled in separate signal paths.
Apparatus And Method For Detecting The Presence Of A Pulsed Radio Frequency Signal

International Classification:

US Classification:

Abstract:
The presence of a pulsed radio frequency signal is detected by periodically sampling such signal with first and second sampling strobes in quadrature relationship. The first and second strobes are separately accumulated for a first period of time overlapping a second period of time during which the first and second strobes are also accumulated. The four sums resulting from such accumulations are compared with a predetermined threshold level to determine the presence of the pulsed radio frequency signal.
Apparatus And Method For Attenuating Interfering Signals

US Classification:

Abstract:
A method and apparatus for attenuating an interfering signal corrupting a desired Loran C signal is provided. An interfering signal sample is determined which occurs at the peak of the autocorrelation function of the interfering signal such that the period of the interferer is known. The sample occurring at the peak of the autocorrelation function is added to or subtracted from the desired Loran C signal sample taken at a predetermined reference point during the pulses thereof such that the interfering signal is cancelled or substantially attenuated.

Abstract:
A plurality of up/down counters are controlled by a programmed digital reference signal. The combination of a high select signal and a high input signal causes any one of the counters to increment (up) by one count while a combination of a high select signal and a low input signal causes any one of the counters to decrement (down) one count. A threshold detector signals on output when a specific combination of the counters reaches a predetermined combination count signifying correlation of the programmed reference with the input tone over a predetermined number of cycles. The phase of the input may be determined by noting which of the counters reaches the predetermined threshold.
