Abstract:
A method of replacing a gas main that supplies gas to a recipient through an existing service line includes connecting a first tapping tee to the new gas main and connecting a second tapping tee to the existing service line that communicates with a downstream recipient. Branch passages of the first and second tapping tees are fluidically connected together by a connecting conduit. The new gas main is then tapped with the first tee so that gas flows from the new gas main into the connecting conduit up to the second tee. All air is bled from the connecting conduit between the first and second tees, and the existing service line is then tapped with the second tee so that gas is supplied to the recipient through both the existing service line and the connecting conduit. Gas flow to the recipient from the old main is then terminated. The second tee is a specially configured tapping tee specifically adapted for bleeding air from the connecting conduit that interconnects the first and second tees.
A connector adapted for use with an associated fluid line includes a connector body having a passage dimensioned to receive the associated fluid line and a capturing member supported on said connector body. The capturing member is suitable for retaining the associated fluid line in the passage. A sealing member is disposed within the passage and is suitable for forming a fluid-tight seal between the connector body and the associated fluid line. A stiffening member is disposed within the connector body along the passage, and an indicator is disposed within the connector body and is adapted to indicate that the associated fluid line has been received a predetermined distance into the passage.

A heat trap assembly for a hot water tank includes a heat trap insert and a sealing member retained by the heat trap insert. The heat trap insert includes a seat having an opening that is dimensioned to be covered by the sealing member when no water is flowing through the assembly. The heat trap insert also includes a plurality of fingers to retain the sealing member when water is flowing through the heat trap assembly.
Combination Shut-Off And Resetable Excess Flow Valve
A valve operable with an associated fluid delivery system having fluid flow therethrough includes a housing, a valve body and a resetable excess flow valve. The housing has a first passage and the valve body is disposed along the first passage and including a wall at least partially defining a second passage. The excess flow valve is supported along one of the first and second passages. The valve body is displaceable between a first position permitting flow through the second passage and a second position substantially shutting-off fluid flow and resetting the excess flow valve.
Coupling Assembly For Joining Plastic And Metal Pipes
A coupling body has: (i) a central member; (ii) a first retaining member; and, (iii) a second retaining member. The first retaining member and the central member define a first pipe receiving region. The second retaining member and the central member define a second pipe receiving region having a tapered inner surface. A selectively constrictable clamp collar is located in the first pipe receiving region. A bolt or other actuation member is operably engaged with the clamp collar and is movable to constrict the clamp collar. A gripping collet is located in the second pipe receiving region and includes a tapered outer surface. At least one tie-bolt or other fastener extends between the retaining members and is selectively adjustable to draw the first and second retaining members toward each other so that the tapered inner surface engages the tapered outer surface of the collet to constrict the collet radially.
