Abstract:
A film camera assembly has a taking lens and an aligned baffle. A film metering mechanism is actuable to transport the photographic film in a longitudinal direction past the baffle. A film support is aligned with the baffle and defines a pair of film stations separated by a light-blocking interspace mask. The first film station has an exposure opening and a pair of lateral edges adjoining the exposure opening. The second film station has a light-blocking image mask and an elongate demarcation opening adjoining the image mask in a second direction perpendicular to the direction of film transport. The exposure opening and demarcation opening are equal in length. The demarcation opening is aligned with one of the lateral edges.

Abstract:
A magnetic reading and/or recording apparatus comprises a magnetic reading and/or recording head for reading and/or recording information from/on a magnetic information track on a photosensitive material having a natural longitudinal curl which when longitudinally straightened assumes an inherent transverse curl; and edge follower means attached to the magnetic reading and/or recording head for tracking a longitudinal edge of the photosensitive material in response to movement of the photosensitive material. Means are substantially aligned with the edge follower means for bending the photosensitive material in a direction perpendicular to the transverse curl to eliminate the transverse curl of the photosensitive material.

Abstract:
An electrical drive motor system for a camera having a read head for reading magnetically encoded data from a filmstrip during a reel-to-reel transport of the film, includes a mechanism for storing energy in a mechanical motor spring. The energy stored in the spring is used to temporarily continue or complete the advance of the film with the electric motor shut off, to allow the read head to operate without electromagnetic interference from the electric motor.

Abstract:
An exposure count indicator for providing a visible indication of the number of frames that remain available to be exposed or are actually exposed on a filmstrip in a camera, comprises a numerical scale of successive exposure count indicia at least divided into an initial range of indicia that are evenly spaced from one another a particular distance and a remaining range of indicia that are evenly spaced from one another a different distance less than the particular distance the exposure count indicia that are in the initial range are spaced from one another, in order that when one views the respective indicia in the remaining range after all of the indicia in the initial range have been viewed it can serve as a warning that one is coming closer to the end of the filmstrip because the indicia in the remaining range are spaced apart a lesser distance than the indicia in the initial range. Preferably, a movable indicating element is supported for movement relative to the exposure count indicia to first operate as a pointer successively at the respective indicia in the initial range and then operate as a pointer successively at the respective indicia in the remaining range.

Abstract:
A light-shielding door of a film cassette when opened overlaps an extension of a film gate device to bridge a gap between the film cassette and the film gate device, to facilitate movement of a leading end of a filmstrip from the film cassette onto film support rails of the film gate device.

Abstract:
In a film cassette, a film spool is rotatable inside a cassette shell in an unwinding direction to thrust a leader section of a filmstrip coiled about the spool from within a light-tight film passageway to the exterior of the shell and in a winding direction to return the leader to the interior of the shell. A unidirectional arresting device is movable into engagement with the spool to prevent rotation of the spool in only the winding direction. The filmstrip includes an inclined edge for moving the arresting device out of engagement with the spool responsive to thrusting the leader substantially to the exterior of the shell, to allow the spool to be rotated in the winding direction in order to return the leader to the interior of the shell, and for permitting the arresting device to move into engagement with the spool responsive to return of the leader to within the passageway, to prevent the spool from being rotated further in the winding direction to thereby retain the leader in the passageway.
