Abstract:

Embodiments are directed towards budgeting and financial forecasting related to information technology and services. Budgets may comprise one or more, model layers that may include cost objects and one or more allocation rules. Users may create and modify a budget and modifications made to a budget may generate corresponding change entries that may be stored in an audit log. Also, users may create and/or record tags that may be associated with change entries that may correspond to a snapshot of the state of the budget main branch. Users may use a tag to generate one or more new budget versions based on the change entries that may be associated with the tag. The new budget versions may be further modified by the user separate from the budget each other budget. Also, budget versions may have different cost objects and/or allocation rules.
