Abstract:

According to one embodiment of the invention, a system for head protection is provided. The system includes a helmet body defining at least one hole. The system also includes at least one reinforcement member coupled to the helmet body. The reinforcement member defines an aperture that at least partially aligns with the hole of the helmet body.

Abstract:

A helmet adjustment mechanism is adapted to adjust the size of a helmet having first and second retention members (e. g. , plastic straps) movable with respect to each other. The adjustment mechanism includes an actuating member (e. g. , a pinion) coupled to at least one of the retention members and movable (e. g. , rotatable) in two directions to move at least one of the retention members relative to the other. A clutch mechanism is coupled to the actuating member and includes at least one locking member (e. g. , two locking members) that inhibits movement of the actuating member in both of the two directions. The adjustment mechanism also includes a release mechanism (e. g. , including a rotary dial) adapted to move the locking member from a locked position to an unlocked position to allow movement of the actuating member. When the actuating member is being moved, the adjustment mechanism also provides a ratcheting detent.

Abstract:

A method, apparatus and article of manufacture provide for displaying per-instance dynamic properties of an object. A reference to an object instance having a dynamic property that is supplied at runtime for the object instance on a per-instance basis and is not stored with the object is received. A reference to a property source instance, that maintains knowledge of the dynamic property, associated with the object, is retrieved. The references are provided to a control that retrieves and displays the dynamic property. Additionally, the object may provide/specify a custom ActiveX control that defines a user interface for displaying and editing one or more properties. The custom control is instantiated and used to display the property in the defined user interface.

Abstract:

The present invention provides a helmet comprising a main body having a concave interior for receiving a user's head, a head strap coupled to the body, and an adjustment mechanism coupled to the head strap. The head strap is positioned in a loop that spans at least 1.5 wraps around the interior of the main body. Preferably, the head strap is fully recessed into the concave interior of the main body. The head strap can include an occipital pad and a flexible belt (e.g., two flexible belts) secured to the occipital pad and engaged with the adjustment mechanism. Preferably, at least a portion of the flexible belt is spaced rearward from the occipital pad. The helmet can further include a belt guide (e.g., two side belt guides and a front belt guide) secured to the main body and adapted to allow the head strap to slide through the belt guide.
