Abstract:

The present invention provides methods and kits for conducting multiplex nucleic acid amplification reactions by controlling target sequence replication times. In one aspect, such control is exerted by selecting different lengths of target polynucleotides for amplification. In another aspect, control is exerted by providing sequence-specific polymerase inhibitors, such as specific blocking oligonucleotides. In accordance with the invention, multiple target polynucleotides can be sequentially amplified in an amplification reaction conducted in different stages, wherein amplification of sequences with longer replication times is permitted in one stage but precluded in other stages by modifying polymerase extension times in the course of the reaction.

An integrated security system is described that integrates broadband and mobile access and control with conventional security systems and premise devices to provide a tri-mode security network (broadband, cellular/GSM, POTS access) that enables users to remotely stay connected to their premises. The integrated security system, while delivering remote premise monitoring and control functionality to conventional monitored premise protection, complements existing premise protection equipment. The integrated security system integrates into the premise network and couples wirelessly with the conventional security panel, enabling broadband access to premise security systems. Automation devices (cameras, lamp modules, thermostats, etc.) can be added, enabling users to remotely see live video and/or pictures and control home devices via their personal web portal or webpage, mobile phone, and/or other remote client device. Abstract:

A method of utilizing a shock model for prediction of perforating effects can include recording measurements of the perforating effects on an actual perforating string in a wellbore, adjusting the shock model so that predictions of the perforating effects output by the shock model substantially match the measurements of the perforating effects, and causing the adjusted shock model to predict the perforating effects for a proposed perforating string. A method of predicting perforating effects on a perforating string in a wellbore can include inputting a three dimensional well model and a three dimensional model of the perforating string into a shock model, and causing the shock model to predict the perforating effects on the perforating string.
