Abstract:
A method for managing web server presentations comprised of the steps of analyzing attributes associated with a web request from a user; formatting a document to be sent to the user based upon the attributes; and transmitting data corresponding to a document to the user.
A lens cover covers a camera lens or a projection lens formed in the frame of a computer display or in the body of a personal digital assistant or mobile telephone. The cover is movable to allow the lens to operate, yet allow the cover to remain with the device. One cover pivots around a pivot point to cover or uncover the lens. Another cover hinges in order to cover or uncover the lens. Another cover slides back and forth. Another cover hangs upon a hook located above the lens. Another cover is a suction cup applied over the lens. Another cover slides back and forth hanging on the top edge of the computer display. The cover may be fixed in place using gravity, friction, a snap, hook and loop closures, suction, or a ZIPLOC-type mechanism. The cover or its attaching means may be fixed to the computer or telephone using a self adhesive.
Method For Constructing Adaptive Packet Lengths In A Congested Network

Abstract:
In a network, the efficiency of data transfer is improved. The network includes packets of data (100, 120). The invention begins by preserving an original packet (100). A larger packet (140) is then constructed by combining two packets (100, 120). Either the original packet (100) or the larger packet (140) is transmitted over the network. The original packet (100) is transmitted if the media/port (52) becomes available for transmission before the larger packet (140) is constructed, and the larger packet (140) is transmitted if the constructing of the larger packet (140) is completed before the media (52) becomes available. In a network with cells, a packet is constructed by combining cells. This packet is built until the media becomes available for transmission. The size and composition of this packet is independent of an original packet's size and composition.

Abstract:
A method for generating test data for testing a memory having k data bits and n address bits, where n is less than or equal to 2 times k. For each address location for which test data is desired, the address bits for the location are combined to form the test data for the location. First, two mutually-exclusive groups of n minus k non-repeating bits of the address word are selected. Second, the two groups of address bits are combined using an exclusive-OR operation. Third, the results of the exclusive-OR operation are combined with any remaining bits of the address word to form the test data for the address location. For example, in one embodiment, the most significant n minus k bits of the least significant k bits of the address word are combined, via an exclusive-OR operation, with the most significant n minus k bits of the address word. The resulting data is then concatenated with the remaining bits of the address word.
A bottom cleaning system and apparatus for cleaning submerged portions of hulls includes a cyclically movable brush for operating in cleaning relation to a submerged hull portion while carried submerged in cleaning relation to the hull by an elongate member. Controls for operating the brush are disposed at a position remote from the brush whereby (fluid) connections can extend between the brush and the controls to be operated from the latter. An inflatable diaphragm provides a variably buoyancy which moves the brush between raised and lowered positions into and out of cleaning relation to the hull by controls disposed to be operated at a position remote from the brush. The elongate member can be formed as first and second articulated members whereby the brush can be pivotally operated using articulated movements. In addition, a plurality of such brushes and elongate members can be disposed and arranged on opposite sides of a hull so as to provide complete cleaning of the hull at a number of different locations.
Hub Dominated Method And System For Managing Network Collisions

Abstract:
A network having a number of terminals connected by a hub includes managing data transmission collisions by distinguishing among the terminals following a transmission. In the preferred embodiment, the terminals are arranged in a star configuration and the hub is an Ethernet hub that forwards a data packet from a terminal to all of the remaining terminals. A data packet is stored in memory while it is transmitted to all of the other terminals in the collision domain. If a collision is detected in forwarding the data packet, the transmission is completed to the collision-free terminals, thereby isolating subsequent forwarding of the data packet to the one or more collision-inducing terminals. When a no-carrier condition is sensed, the data packet is retransmitted to the one or more collision-inducing terminals. Preferably, a back-off scheme provides priority to the hub-to-terminal transmissions over the terminal-to-hub transmissions, so that the probability of repeated collisions between the same packets is significantly reduced.

Rapid and efficient memory testing is provided by using direct memory access techniques. This hardware-based scheme operates at a considerably faster rate than a software-dependent solution running on a system's central processor.
Automatic Parametric Self-Testing And Grading Of A Hardware System
Automatic parametric testing of a system can be achieved by varying a parameter such as speed, voltage, and/or temperature, and then monitoring system performance. Such testing can be used to determine whether a given system meets specifications and performance variations from system to system.
