Abstract:
Ceramic compositions can be formed by the pyrolysis of a particulate metal, which forms a component of the ceramic, and another metal, which forms another component of the ceramic.
An add-a-bag assembly for luggage has a base attached to a top wall of the luggage and a buckle that is detachably received on the base. The base has a buckle-receiving portion defined by spaced-apart side walls, each of which has a front overhanging abutment surface that slopes downwardly and rearwardly from a front upper surface. A retainer boss projects laterally from each side wall of the buckle and engages one of the overhanging abutment surfaces of the side wall. Releasable rear locking surfaces on the base and the buckle located rearwardly of the bosses and overhanging abutment surfaces engage each other so as to prevent translatory forward movement of the buckle relative to the base and maintain the bosses on the buckle in engagement under the overhanging abutment surfaces of the base. Tab and slot detents latch the buckle in place. A strap is secured to the rear edge of the body portion of the buckle and is adapted to be joined to an article that is piggybacked on the luggage.
A releasable lock mechanism includes a base having guideways that carry a pair of lock rods for lateral movement along a drive axis in opposite directions with respect to each other between outward, locking positions in which noses on the distal ends of the lock rods are received in holes in each of the two legs of a U-shaped towing handle and inward, release positions, in which the noses are withdrawn from the holes so that the handle can be moved. A push-button driver plate moves along the base perpendicular to the drive axis and pushes the lock rods in and out along drive axis by cam slots on the driver plate that work against cam posts on the lock rods. A compression spring biases the driver plate to an upward position, in which the lock rods are engaged in, or are biased outwardly in readiness to be engaged in, the holes in the towing handle.
A D-ring of metal wire is specially shaped to accept and retain a special grommet of a hard, wear-resistant polymeric material. The D-ring has a base leg, a pair of side legs joined to opposite ends of the base leg and converging toward each other from junctures with the base leg, and a substantially arcuate head joined to the side legs at junctures forming a neck opening that is constricted relative to a head opening defined within the head. The grommet is received within the head opening and neck opening of the D-ring and has a hole adapted to receive a hook and a peripheral groove that is in captured engagement with the head of the D-ring and with the junctures of the head and the leg portions. Portions of the groove located at the neck opening of the D-ring are deepened relative to adjacent portions of the groove within the head opening so as to retain the grommet while enabling the grommet to be pressed endwise through the neck opening and into the head opening of the D-ring.

Abstract:
An item of expandable luggage includes a substantially rigid main peripheral frame and a substantially rigid secondary peripheral frame. A peripherally continuous gusset of flexible material is connected between the two peripheral frames. Opposite wall panels of the main peripheral frame are joined to corresponding opposite wall panels of the secondary peripheral frame by bridge assemblies, one such assembly being associated with each of the opposite wall panels of the respective frames. Each bridge assembly includes a pair of parallel spaced-apart slide rails affixed to the wall panel of the main peripheral frame, a substantially rigid bridge plate affixed to the wall panel of the secondary peripheral frame and slidably received by the slide rails, and a releasable latch that couples the bridge plate to the wall panel of the main peripheral frame in at least one position in which the secondary peripheral frame is held securely in a position spaced apart from the main peripheral frame.
"This appears to be a solution to a problem that doesn't exist," said David Workman, the group's communications director. "I can't find -- nor can anybody else find -- any evidence that any of these bullets has ever been fired from a handgun that's harmed a police officer."
"You've got these two philosophies that are butting heads, and they're butting heads in the biggest city in the middle of the United States," said David Workman, of the Bellevue, Wa.-based Second Amendment Foundation. "And both sides are holding up Chicago as a punching bag."
While most companies doing work for the Salt Lake Games had to complete a rigorous application process and in many cases present competitive bids to win an Olympic contract, 02 Blue's arrangement began when Davies approached David Workman, who was a mid-level official in the committee's environmenta
