The announcement came at a news conference attended by Gov. Terry Branstad and Debi Durham, director of the Iowa Economic Development Authority. According to MidAmerican, the Wind XI plan is the largest economic development project in the states history.
MidAmerican CEO Bill Fehrman, joined by Iowa Gov. Terry Branstad and state economic development director Debi Durham, announced the proposed project Thursday at a news conference in a building at the base of a wind turbine at the Iowa State Fairgrounds.
With the investment, the Des Moines utility's largest, MidAmerican would get85 percent of its energy from wind, CEO BillFehrman saidThursday at a press conference with Gov. Terry Branstad and Debi Durham, the state's economic development director.
