Abstract:

A rotating beacon employs an array of LEDs mounted on a rotor assembly in a pattern for unidirectional emission wherein the LEDs are excited through noncontact inductive coupling between a load coupling on the rotor assembly and a source coupling on the stator or mount element. In a particular embodiment, a primary sender flat coil of an air gap transformer is disposed concentrically forming a disc and mounted juxtaposed to a secondary receiver flat coil so that power can be conveyed across the air gap while the rotor is in motion. The transferred power excites substantially all of the LED array in a fixed pattern on the rotating mount. In a second embodiment, the air gap transformer has a primary sender coil is mounted coaxially with a secondary receiver coil (which is typically but not necessarily inside the primary coil), so the secondary, with the array can freely rotate and draw power from the source.

Abstract:

A portable collapsible shelter for use at sporting events and the like includes a rectangular flexible enclosure having a viewing window in one wall thereof. The enclosure is supported by a frame which includes a central, hollow, telescoping support pole. The telescoping support pole permits the height of the shelter to be adjusted. When not in use, the entire shelter may be transported and stored within the telescoping support pole. In a second embodiment of the invention, the frame includes a vertical support pole and a plurality of ribs hinged for movement from a collapsed position alongside the pole to an extended position nearly perpendicular to the pole. The enclosure is left in place over the frame when the ribs are collapsed, and folded into a compact storage packet which is secured with a fastening band.

Abstract:

A stool which includes a box-shaped support, a cushion, and a tether is disclosed. The support includes a pedestal, which surrounds an interior section, and an inwardly extending seat at a top side of the pedestal. An exterior side of the seat forms a slip-resistant surface. The support additionally includes a flange-shaped base extending outward from a bottom side of the pedestal for a predetermined distance. The base is further configured to include an integrally formed handle therein. In addition, the pedestal tapers from a larger cross-sectional area at the bottom side to a smaller cross-sectional area at the top side. The tether movably attaches the support to the cushion so that the cushion may reside in a first position, wherein the stool is configured for sitting, or a second position, wherein the stool is configured for standing.
