Abstract:

An image recording sheet comprising a substrate having a first surface opposite a second surface. A toner receptor layer coated on at least the first surface of the substrate includes a binder having a concentration from about 19 dry wt % to about 80 dry wt % of the receptor layer. The binder holds a conductive polymer and a filler having a concentration from about 19 dry wt % to about 80 dry wt % of the receptor layer. The filler interacts with the conductive polymer to provide an antistat imparting to the toner receptor layer a surface resistivity in a range from 10ohms/square to 10ohms/square. The image recording sheet uses conducting polymers selected from polyanilines and polythiophenes in a concentration from about 0.5 dry wt % to about 3.0 dry wt % of the receptor layer. Suitable fillers have an average particle size from about 5 nm to about 100 nm.

Abstract:

An imaging manifold suitable for use in imaging devices such as electrostatic machines, ink jet, thermal transfer, and similar devices. Preferred imaging manifolds include a transparent, polymeric sheet imageable in an imaging device, and attached thereto, an opaque member underlying and in register with the transparent sheet. The opaque member is adhered to the transparent polymeric sheet by an electrostatic charge.

Abstract:

Hot offset of black toner is reduced or eliminated in a color electrophotographic imaging device, such as a laser printer, by applying a minimal layer of non-black toner in addition to the black toner on a print media. The non-black toner, such as cyan, magenta or yellow toner, acts as a release agent for reducing or eliminating hot offset of the black toner during fusing of the toner to the media. The non-black toner is applied as a thin layer just sufficient to reduce hot offset of the black toner and such that an appearance of a resultant image formed retains a visual perception of being a black toner only image. In an alternate embodiment, the thin layer of non-black toner is applied in response to coated media being processed, such as overhead transparencies, that are more susceptible to hot offset. In yet a further alternate embodiment, raster source image data is converted to output data using a process neutral axis color rendering table, and vector source image data is converted to output data using the same process neutral axis color rendering table only if coated media is being processed, thereby reducing hot offset of black toner. Otherwise, the vector source image data is converted to output data using a black only neutral axis color rendering table.

A method is disclosed for increasing the adhesion of a radiation-curable coating composition to a surface which comprises treating the surface with a fluorine-containing gas before application of the coating and curing the coating composition by exposure to radiation. The increased adhesion of radiation-curable pigmented coating compositions to treated magnetic recording structures, such as tapes and disks, is particularly contemplated.
