I began working on my first book, Good-bye, Baby Max, many years ago. During the time that I decided to write this book, I was working with children who were experiencing a great deal of loss in their lives. As a counselor, I have learned that everyone experiences loss in many different ways and on many different levels. The one thing for which we can be certain is that there will be loss and there will always be change. My hope in writing Good-bye, Baby Max was that the story would help parents, children, and other caring professionals begin talking about losses rather than responding to their losses from a state of fear. Baby Max was finally published in 2008. I was very excited and honored when it was awarded a Gold medal Mom’s Choice Award in 2009.
