    B64D 2510
  • US Classification:
    244122A, 294011, 29464, 408 3
  • Abstract:
A method and kit for retrofitting an inertia reel door onto the seat back of a pre-constructed ejection seat. The method includes removing existing rivets from the seat back exposing rivet holes. Alignment holes are then drilled into the seat back. An aperture is cut into the seat back along flanges of an upper support bracket and a drogue chute bracket. A doubler is aligned with the rivet holes and alignment holes in the seat back and then attached to the seat back. A track is attached to a wall of the aperture and an inertia reel is mounted to the track. An inertia reel door is attached to the doubler.
  • Projection For Use As A Restraining Tooth In A Belt Restraint Assembly

    view source
  • US Patent:
    49340301, Jun 19, 1990
  • Filed:
    Jan 15, 1985
  • Appl. No.:
    6/691553
  • Inventors:
    Dominic Spinosa - Wantagh NY
Frank Knoll - Huntington Station NY
  • Assignee:
    East/West Industries - Hauppauge NY
  • International Classification:
    A44B 1110
  • US Classification:
    24194
  • Abstract:
A projection for use as a restraining tooth in a compression-type belt restraint assembly which includes a base secured against movement and having a size and dimension appropriate for insertion of the projection in the interstices provided between the warp and weft of a woven fabric belt. The projection also includes a load-bearing surface, preferably an omnidirection load-bearing surface, projecting from the base at an angle from the perpendicular to the base so that a substantial component of the restraint force imparted by the surface on a fabric belt fiber under compression restraint is in the horizontal direction. Also the projection includes a nonabrasive top which terminates the omnidirectional surface so fibers comprising a fabric belt are not abraided or cut.
  • Oxygen Supply System

    view source
  • US Patent:
    46192557, Oct 28, 1986
  • Filed:
    Jul 19, 1984
  • Appl. No.:
    6/632381
  • Inventors:
Dominic J. Spinosa - Wantagh NY
Frank Knoll - Huntington Station NY
  • Assignee:
East/West Industries, Inc. - Hauppauge NY
  • International Classification:
    A62B 700
  • US Classification:
    12820227
  • Abstract:
An emergency oxygen system for use on aircraft in conjunction with an on-board primary oxygen supply system is designed to supply oxygen to aircraft personnel in the event that the on-board oxygen supply system fails. Additionally, if the aircraft personnel is forced to eject from the aircraft, the emergency oxygen system automatically activates to provide oxygen and simultaneously disengages all electrical connections from the aircraft frame. The system includes an emergency oxygen supply which is coupled to a differential pressure activated valve through an oxygen release valve, the oxygen release valve having the capability of being manually or automatically triggered. The on-board oxygen supply system is also coupled to the differential pressure activated valve and, depending upon the relative pressure between the on-board oxygen supply system and the emergency supply system, as sensed by the differential pressure activated valve, oxygen from one or the other is channeled from the differential pressure activated valve to a face mask or the like.
  • Closure Device For High Pressure Packaging

    view source
  • US Patent:
    46481605, Mar 10, 1987
  • Filed:
    Apr 23, 1985
  • Appl. No.:
    6/726133
  • Inventors:
Dominic J. Spinosa - Wantagh NY
Frank Knoll - Huntington Station NY
  • Assignee:
    East/West Industries - Hauppauge NY
  • International Classification:
    B25B 108
  • US Classification:
    24515
  • Abstract:
A closure assembly useful as a means for sealing a pressurized package which includes clamping means shiftable between an open position to receive an open portion of the pressurized package and a closed position to substantially hermetically seal the open portion of the pressurized package. The assembly also includes a retaining means coupled to the clamped means and adapted to be actuated by a force substantially independent of the force associated with the pressurized package whereupon the actuating force will maintain the clamping means in the closed position. Another part of the present closure assembly is an actuation means which is engageable with the retaining means in a manner which supplies the force enabling the retaining means to keep the clamping means in the closed position.
  • Restraining Fittings

    view source
  • US Patent:
    44962711, Jan 29, 1985
  • Filed:
    Sep 30, 1982
  • Appl. No.:
    6/431837
  • Inventors:
Dominic J. Spinosa - Wantagh NY
Frank Knoll - Huntington Station NY
  • Assignee:
East/West Industries, Inc. - Farmingdale NY
  • International Classification:
    B60P 708
  • US Classification:
    410105
  • Abstract:
A restraining fitting suitable for use with a mating track member affixed to a flat surface includes an upper portion having a ring affixed thereon suitable for receiving restraining straps or, alternatively, may include a bracket for receiving other mechanisms such as seat legs, shelves, etc. , on its upper surface. The lower portion includes depending protrusions adapted to be received into and cooperate with bore holes provided in the track member. A lower member formed to be slidably retained by the upper member provides displacement of the depending protrusions locking the restraining fitting in the mating track member without requiring movement of the upper member from its initial position.
  • Inflatable Life Raft

    view source
  • US Patent:
    47504471, Jun 14, 1988
  • Filed:
    Dec 13, 1984
  • Appl. No.:
    6/681095
  • Inventors:
Dominic J. Spinosa - Wantagh NY
Frank Knoll - Huntington Station NY
  • Assignee:
East/West Industries, Inc. - Hauppauge NY
  • International Classification:
    B63B 708
  • US Classification:
    114345
  • Abstract:
An inflatable life raft which forms a passenger receptacle, has a removable canopy for covering the passenger receptacle and is formed from a flexible walled housing which includes inner and outer walls, with a plurality of chambers being formed between the walls. A bleeder mechanism, in the form of a plurality of cords disposed in the chambers keep substantially all of the areas of the chambers in communication with each other so that inflation and more especially deflation, can be readily accomplished without forming air pockets caused by the inner and outer chamber walls sticking together precluding the free flow of air.
  • Filler Valve Adapter Tool Kit

    view source
  • US Patent:
    43054382, Dec 15, 1981
  • Filed:
    Dec 31, 1979
  • Appl. No.:
    6/108410
  • Inventors:
Dominic J. Spinosa - Wantagh NY
Frank Knoll - Huntington Station NY
  • Assignee:
East/West Industries, Inc. - Farmingdale NY
  • International Classification:
    B65B 304
    B25B 1306
  • US Classification:
    141 98
  • Abstract:
The kit of the present invention is for use in the refilling within a survival unit of a gaseous supply tank through a filler valve having a threaded stem adjacent the free end thereof and a gripping surface on the filler valve. The gas is generally oxygen although other gas may be supplied. The kit includes an adapter to provide coupling relationship with the threaded stem of the filler valve so as to permit a flow of oxygen into the supply tank such that refilling thereof may take place without removal of the supply tank from the survival kit. The adapter includes an elongated member with an aperture extending therethrough and is adapted to mate with the filler valve in sealing engagement therewith so as to permit gas flowing through the aperture to enter the filler valve. The adapter further includes a holder with a bore extending axially therethrough and the elongated member extends axially through the aperture. A gripping section is provided on the adapter so as to obtain a coupling to the threaded stem such that rotation of the holder by means of the gripping section obtains abutting sealing engagement between the member and the filler valve.
