Abstract:

A key bow cover which is adapted to be placed around the bow of a key and is composed of a pair of plates which are hingedly connected together by a rivet or other similar fastening means at the top end of the cover. The bow of the key is adapted to totally fit within one of the plates with there still being sufficient excess space to insert a money coin, such as a dime in United States currency. There is sufficient space in the other of the plates to also insert a similar coin. When the plates are located together to completely enclose the internal chambers, there is a fastening means provided to secure together the plates. Whenever it is desired, the cover can be opened and the dimes removed and used for whatever purpose deemed necessary, such as a telephone call. An insert is to be normally used within the cover to matingly cooperate within the opening provided by the joined pair of plates. A second opening is provided within the insert to matingly fit with the particular shape of key bow.

Abstract:

A barrel key apparatus wherein there is a handle section attached to a cylindrically shaped tubular section, within the cylindrically shaped tubular section there is located a plurality of spaced apart elongated grooves which are of the same length and extend from the outer free end of the tubular section. Within each of the grooves there may be selectively located one of a group of different length push pins. At the inner end of each groove is located an opening extending to the interior of the tubular section. The push pin includes an attaching means comprising a plurality of spaced apart annular ridges successively connected together along a single longitudinal axis. The attaching means is to be inserted within the opening at the end of the groove with the under surface configuration of the push pin matingly cooperating within the groove and the outer surface of the push pin cooperating with the outer surface of the tubular section to form a flush, smoothly contoured surface. The attaching means is such that it prevents withdrawal of the push pin once it has been inserted without destroying or damaging the pin.

Abstract:

An axial type, tubular key operated, cylinder lock which utilizes a plurality of spring-biased pin arrangements which are to be movable when connected with the proper key to a shear-line position achieving operation of said lock. A pin arrangement is movable longitudinally to the shear-line position. Any attempt to move a pin arrangement other than with a properly coded key will result in the pin arrangement being laterally deflected to a displaced-fixed position preventing operation of the lock.

Abstract:

A machine for the manufacturing of tubular keys wherein the tubular key to be cut is tightly supported within a support means which includes the use of a pivotable indexing plate which will precisely pivot the key to any desired pivotal location. The key is to be lineally movable upon a base in a direction transverse to the longitudinal center axis of the key. A measuring indicator is provided to accurately determine the amount of lineal movement of the key in the transverse direction. A motor driven rotatable cutter is also mounted for lineal movement on the base. The lineal movement of the cutter is parallel to the longitudinal center axis of the key. Another measuring indicator is employed to accurately measure the extent of movement of the cutter with respect to the key. The cutter is capable of being driven at various rotational speeds.

Abstract:

A key assembly which can be assembled to a specific code by snapping together the different parts of the key assembly. The key assembly includes a tubular, cylindrical barrel which has a plurality of spaced apart elongated grooves formed in the exterior surface of the barrel. A hole connects with each groove. A pin is to be mountable within each hole. An insert selected from a grouping of a plurality of different lengths of inserts is to be mounted within each groove with the pin for that groove being located within an appropriate opening formed within the insert thereby longitudinally fixing in position the insert with respect to the groove. A collar is then exteriorly mounted on the barrel about the inserts and fixed in position thereby preventing disengagement of the inserts from their respective grooves. A handle is mounted on the barrel.

Abstract:

A pick for tubular cylindrical locks which includes a central substantially cylindrical member which has a plurality of grooves thereon, each groove to accommodate an elongated pin. The pins are capable of axial movement with respect to the cylindrical member against the action of a frictional brake in the form of rubber O-ring assembly. The very tip of the pins connect with a head which is adapted to be placed about the rotatable cylinder portion of a tubular lock. The head includes a series of axial slots and upon being moved axially into the cylindrical member, the head slightly deflects and frictionally secures to the cylinder portion of the lock. The head is moved axially by a fastener which connects between the rearwardmost end of the first member and the head.
