Abstract:
A photon emitting device comprises a plurality of solid state radiation sources to generate radiation. The solid state radiation sources can be disposed in an array pattern. Optical concentrators, arranged in a corresponding array pattern, receive radiation from corresponding solid state radiation sources. The concentrated radiation is received by a plurality of optical waveguides, also arranged in a corresponding array pattern. Each optical waveguide includes a first end to receive the radiation and a second end to output the radiation. A support structure is provided to stabilize the plurality of optical waveguides between the first and second ends. The photon emitting device can provide a replacement for a discharge lamp device in various applications including road illumination, spot lighting, back lighting, image projection and radiation activated curing.

Abstract:
Air cleaner assemblies and components therefor are described. An example first or main filter cartridge is described which includes a media pack comprising strips of fluted material secured to facing sheets, oriented in a stack. The media pack defines opposite inlet and outlet flow faces, with flutes extending in a direction therebetween. The media pack is non-removably secured within a filter cartridge housing, at a location between opposite sections of a shell, typically secured thereto with an adhesive. The shell also defines a closed end, spaced from, but in overlap with, the outlet end face of the media pack. The closed end is typically curved and the shell typically provides either a d/b-shape or a u-shape. The filter includes an end member, with a outlet flow aperture arrangement therein, allowing for outlet flow from the filter cartridge in a general direction orthogonal to air flow through the media pack. The air cleaner assembly includes a housing having features for receipt of, and engagement by, the filter cartridge.

Abstract:
A storage case for two different sizes of boxed video cassettes has a rectangular base and a complementary rectangular cover. Ribs formed on the interior of the side walls of the base define spaces for a plurality of one size of boxed video cassette between one pair of opposed side walls and spaces for a plurality of the other size between the other pair of opposed side walls. Ribs on the interior of the end wall of the base raise the lesser height cassette so that it extends the same distance above the base end wall as the cassette of greater height, whereby either cassette will fit closely under the end wall of the cover.

Abstract:
A mounting device is disclosed for a portable, expansion-type security gate for children or pets. The expansion gate has a variable width with frictional bumpers on each side that frictionally engage a door jamb or other doorway defining member. The mounting device consists of a socket defining mounting member for each frictional bumper that is secured to the door jamb and is configured to receive and retain the frictional bumper. One type of mounting member is configured to mount on flat surfaces such as door jambs and walls. Another mounting member is constructed to mount on a wrought iron railing. Both types rigidly support the security gate and prevent it from being accidentally dislodged.
A multiple panel unit for creating a play area for young children in which each panel has a rigid rectangular frame and is connected to an adjacent panel by a hinge structure at the top and bottom of the panels permitting the panels to be pivoted with respect to each other at the hinge. The top of a first of two adjacent panels and the corresponding end of the hinge structure are formed for releasably retaining the end of the hinge and the bottom of the second of the adjacent panels and the corresponding end of the bottom hinge structure are formed with a pin and a mating recess that are matable in a direction parallel to the hinge pivot axis.
A bird feeder including a shallow feeding tray into which bird feed flows through a passageway from a supply cavity above the tray, which bird feeder includes spaced vertical partitions within the feeding tray which restrict wind blowing bird feed from the feeding tray and brushing or scattering of bird feed from the feeding tray by side to side motion of the bill of a bird perched on the feeder.
