Abstract:

An automated method and apparatus for notifying subscribers of a customer message manager notification system upon changes in some real-time data is disclosed. Subscribers are notified in an order based on some predetermined criteria, such as subscriber level. More specifically, airline customers are notified of changes in airline information which affects their travel plans, as well as other types of notification. This notification can occur via standard communications devices commonly carried by travels such as pagers, two-way pagers, cellular telephones (e. g. , via automated voice, call centers), and mobile computers (e. g. , via email or a web page). The present invention further provides for notifying selected groups of customers based on a predetermined criteria, such as frequent flyer level, class of service, or price of ticket. Moreover, the invention also provides for receiving a response from a notified customer to update the travel plans for those communications devices that support two-way communication. In this manner, selected groups or individual customers can be given preferential treatment.

Abstract:

In a subrate-multiplexed communication system, a user channel whose data transmission rate fluctuates about a nominal rate from the viewpoint of a network--illustratively because the channel is timed independently from the network--is assigned a fixed amount of network bandwidth that defines a fixed transmission rate which exceeds the data signal rate of the user channel and is preferably equal to the maximum anticipated user-channel data signal rate plus the minimum acceptable control information transport rate. As much of the fixed transmission rate defined by the assigned network bandwidth as necessary to handle the current data rate of the user channel is used at any time for transport of data signals, and the full remaining amount of the fixed transmission rate defined by the assigned bandwidth is used to transport control signals, so that the alternation between data and control signals within the user channel's signal stream through the network is aperiodic over time and no assigned bandwidth ever remains idle. The multiplexed-transmission format is frames of one-byte time slots wherein each byte comprises six sequential information bits delineated at one end of the sequence by a framing bit and delinated at another end of the sequence by a control bit. A control bit value of one identifies the information bits as bits of data information, and a control bit value of zero together with all subsequent information bits in the sequence up to and including a first subsequent information bit having a value of one identify remaining information bits in the sequence as bits of control information.

Abstract:

A dehumidifying system uses a membrane cartridge to filter water vapor from air or other gas introduced into the membrane cartridge via a main pump or compressor. Dehumidified gas from the membrane cartridge is then delivered into a system which requires dry gas. The dehumidifying system further includes valve arrangements or additional compressors which provide gas flow through the membrane cartridge when the main compressor is inactive. Therefore, the membrane cartridge receives a substantially continuous flow of gas which maintains the optimal efficiency of the membrane cartridge. In addition to the arrangements which provide this continuous gas flow, a heating coil wrapped around the membrane cartridge raises the temperature of the fiber membranes within the cartridge. The heated fiber membranes are less susceptible to retain moisture which decreases the efficiency of the membrane cartridge.

Abstract:

The pressure of the air supplied to the membrane cartridge is regulated so that the flow rate through the membrane cartridge can be easily controlled by a flow-control valve or orifice connected to the outlet of the membrane cartridge. The flow rate is controlled so the air remains within the membrane cartridge long enough to produce dehumidified air having a preselected maximum dew point.

Abstract:

In a subrate-multiplexed telecommunication system that handles subchannels of different rates and hence assigns a plurality of time slots within a frame to at least some subchannels, time slots with a frame of a subsrate multiplexed channel are assigned to an individual subchannel arbitrarily, without constraint on the location within the frame of the time slots assigned to the individual subchannel. The only constraint that is observed is that, when switching the signal stream of a subchannel from one subrate-muliplexed signal stream to another, the relative time ordering of the subchannel's signals carried by the subchannel's assigned time slots in the one subrate-multiplexed signal stream is preserved when the subchannel's signals are switched into the subchannel's time slots in the other subrate multiplexed signal stream.

Abstract:

Geological stata can be modeled using weighted parameters. For example, geological data representative of strata in a subterranean formation can be received. A weight for a parameter usable to generate a geological model can be determined. Examples of the parameter can include (i) a first parameter for reducing a change in a thickness of a stratum, (ii) a second parameter for maintaining a minimum thickness of the stratum, (iii) a third parameter for maintaining a maximum thickness of the stratum, (iv) a fourth parameter for reducing a curvature in the thickness of the stratum, (v) a fifth parameter for a user-provided indication of a feature of the stratum, or (vi) any combination of these. The geological model can be generated by concurrently solving a system of equations using the weight and the geological data. The geological model can be displayed and can visually represent the cross-sectional shapes of the strata.

Abstract:

A method and a system for modeling a three-dimensional geological structure. A method may comprise selecting input data from well measurement systems, seismic surveys or other sources, inputting the input data into an information handling system, building a quotient space, projecting constraints to the quotient space, constructing depth functions on the quotient space, trimming against a fault network, and producing a three-dimensional model of horizons. A system may comprise a downhole tool. The downhole tool may comprise at least one receiver and at least one transmitter. The system may further comprise a conveyance and an information handling system. The information handling system may be configured to select an input data, build a quotient space, project constraints to the quotient space, construct depth functions on the quotient space, trim against a fault network, and produce a three-dimensional model of a geological structure.
